Official description[edit | edit source]
Thormac has lost his rare lesser-kharid scorpions after leaving their cage door open.
These scorpions have hidden in areas that are rather difficult to get into.
You will have to overcome various challenges (and drink a lot of beer) to get all the scorpions back.
If you manage to help him, Thormac will improve your battlestaves.

Valued gems[edit | edit source]
To begin, talk to Thormac on the roof of the sorcerer's tower, south of Seers' Village. He'll tell you that his rare Kharid Scorpions have escaped and are on the loose. Thormac gives you a scorpion cage to catch his treasures and suggest to go talk to the seers that live to the north.
You must talk to a seer in order to catch the first scorpion; otherwise, the necessary dialogue options needed to continue through the wall will not be available.
In a dark place...[edit | edit source]
With the cage in your inventory, speak to any of the Seers, south-west of the Seers' Village bank. They insist on speaking solely in riddles, mentioning that one of Thormac's pets resides "in a dark place, between a lake and a holy island". This is inside the Taverley Dungeon.
Enter the dungeon.
- If you have level 80 agility, you can take the west shortcut directly to the poison spider area.
- If you have level 70 Agility, you can take the shortcut to the blue dragons and head south from there.
Otherwise, walk half the length of the dungeon (to the southernmost part), kill the jailer, and use his jail key to free Velrak the explorer, who gives a copy of the dusty key; use this key on the gate to enter the blue dragon chamber. From the blue dragons, go south and west to the black demons, and north to where the poison spiders are. The blue dragons are not aggressive, but the black demons and poison spiders are, so if you have a low combat level, it would be worth taking food and an antipoison.
Find the small room (it is the small square room just west of the dungeon entrance) with an old searchable wall to enter it and walk past the black demons and into the poisonous spider room immediately on the right. To catch the Kharidian scorpion in this room, use the scorpion cage on it. If you try to pick up the scorpion barehanded, it will sting you, inflicting 30 life points of damage.
Barbaric![edit | edit source]
Return to any seer to find the location of the second and third scorpions. The seer will say that the scorpion "has been spirited away by a brute of a man. He runs a shop in a village two canoe trips from Lumbridge." – referring to Gunnarsgrunn.
(Optional) Visit Barbarian Village and ask Peksa, the owner of the helmet shop, about the scorpion. He will say that he left it as a 'surprise gift' for his brother at the Barbarian Outpost under his bed.
Proceed to the Barbarian Outpost (use a games necklace to quickly teleport there) and enter the fenced-in area. Completion of Bar Crawl (miniquest) is required to pass the guards. The scorpion wanders in and around the buildings by the Agility course within the outer entrance. Similar to the first scorpion, use the cage to capture it.
With a golden four-pointed star[edit | edit source]
The third scorpion is located at the Edgeville Monastery. Head to the Monastery—a combat bracelet provides direct teleportation and the Edgeville Lodestone is located just to the northeast—and climb either ladder in the monastery to 1st floor[UK]2nd floor[US]. Use the cage on the scorpion found in the eastern side of the room.
Take the filled cage of scorpions back to Thormac to complete the quest.
Congratulations, quest complete!

Update history[edit | edit source]
- patch 4 January 2011 (Update):
- Fixed an error where the task system thought you couldn’t do the “Graceful Barbarian” task if you’d already completed Scorpion Catcher.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- It used to be possible to start Scorpion Catcher without having completed the Bar Crawl (as the miniquest could be done during the quest).
