The sacrificial altars are excavation hotspots at the Infernal Source - Dungeon of Disorder excavation site that players can excavate after reaching level 36 Archaeology.

They first appear as fiery brimstone and need to be uncovered before using. This yields a one-time reward of 78 Archaeology experience.
