The runesphere is an object and D&D that appears in the Runespan and can be siphoned for runes, rune dust, and Runecrafting experience. Siphoning the runesphere requires rune essence, and yields runes and rune dust. The runesphere will slowly lose its layers regardless of whether or not anyone has siphoned it. When all layers of the runesphere are lost or siphoned off, a ball of pure energy will be revealed. Rune dust can then be handed in to the pure energy.

Finding the runesphere[edit | edit source]

Runespheres are not synchronised across worlds. Thus, an active runesphere can be found by world hopping.

When a runesphere appears, a message in the chatbox is given to those within the Runespan, A runesphere has spawned on the (Bottom/Middle/Top) Floor!. Additionally, a runesphere icon appears at the top left of the screen, with the hover text Runesphere Active on the [Bottom/Middle/Top] Floor! (Phase).

Upon arrival at the correct floor, the blue wizard can be asked for the runesphere location. They will inform the compass direction of travel to find the runesphere, but they will not provide a minimap arrow as they do when asked about the yellow wizard.

Wizard Rinsit sells the runesphere teleport tablet for 2,000 Runespan points each.

Runesphere spawns[edit | edit source]

The spawn phase is dependent on the floor level. Assuming the runesphere starts on the soul layer, it will last for approximately 38 minutes and 37 seconds (2,317 seconds) before reverting to its core. It will disappear after 1 hour and 20 seconds (3,620 seconds) have passed from its spawn. The spawn time between runespheres is about 2 hours 30 minutes and 50 seconds (9,050 seconds) apart. If it spawns on the top floor, its best spawn is soul layer, middle floor law layer, and bottom floor cosmic layer.

Collecting rune dust[edit | edit source]

Depending on the type of layer, each successful siphon also grants 1-6 rune dust, while each unsuccessful siphon grants 1 dust. A maximum of 1,000 rune dust can be siphoned from each runesphere. Upon reaching the maximum, runes and Runecrafting experience will still be received from siphoning. Multiple runespheres can be farmed, limited to the maximum of 1,000 rune dust per runesphere. The rune dust will not be removed from the inventory when leaving the Runespan, and can be banked for later. You may only deposit rune dust once per day, If you deposit less than 1,000 you may still gather dust, but will need to wait until the following day to deposit again.

Only 1,000 rune dust can be handed over to the pure energy per day, with 25 Runecrafting experience per dust up to a maximum of 25,000 Runecrafting experience per day. If more rune dust has been farmed, they need to be banked for later.

Rune dust experience receives the Double XP multiplier and outfit bonuses.

Tips[edit | edit source]

  • For players not wearing a complete set of the Ethereal outfit, the runesphere can be a great source of runes for island hopping as it provides every rune in the game.
  • At level 99, the best moment to start siphoning the runesphere is at the water layer, although it is possible to get 1,000 dust at the start of the mind layer assuming time is not lost collecting rune essence. At lower levels, players may find it beneficial to start at higher layers.
  • It is often more efficient to ignore the runesphere when it is at lower layers as other higher nodes will give better experience rates.
  • It is possible to stack the runesphere with the regular daily challenge in the Runespan.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Runespheres also appeared during the See the Future teaser before the Runespan release. During the duration of the event, it changed elements before fading with the rifts that the event created.
  • Runespheres work in a similar manner to the Shooting Star D&D, with players removing layers, gathering a form of dust, and turning the dust in at the end for a further reward.
  • Sometimes the symbols on the runesphere are inverted. For example, when the runesphere is at the cosmic layer, two of the symbols are upside down and the third is the correct way up.
  • Runesphere is the only D&D based on timing which does not have in-game tracking for the next spawn[source needed].
  • For players wishing to collect and hand in the 1,000 rune dust, the worst case scenario is to wait about 1 hour 56 minutes and 20 seconds (1,550 seconds) from mind layer until the core goes away (assuming the runesphere had started at soul layer), plus 5,430 seconds waiting for the next runesphere. The best case scenario is to wait between 4 minutes 7 seconds and 6 minutes 21 seconds, from the water layer to the core.
