RuneScape talk:Requests for deletion

Log[edit source]

I think there should be some sort of log or archives, so that this place is cleaned up once in a while. Also, there should be some sort of set time for voting; voting shouldn't just go on forever. Also, I see notes like "This page will be kept" which need to be signed so that it's clear who and when it was decided. -- Ricky81682 05:40, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

alt-x[edit source]

Could someone implement an ability to 'Add a comment to this discussion. on the project page? It would make things quicker. Hyenaste 21:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Direction[edit source]

This was originally posted by Ace of Risk on the project page:

The direction we aim for needs to be noted, with a templete for individual items, one approach is to aim for an ItemDB to rival most fansites, in which case Individual item pages should be kept and expanded, with an item stats template as well (do we already have one?). Since this is a WHOLE wiki for Runscape only, fine granularity and tight linking is better. Ace of Risk 22:36, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Big Page[edit source]

I'm tempted to archive the page, and remove a lot of the stuff that has been resolved (either deleted or has plenty of Keep votes, what do people think? --Eucarya 23:27, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I made an archive template a while ago. It's really screwed up but will work for now I guess. It's a fairly long process: cut the whole section, go to the archives section, scroll to the bottom, make sure it's triple spaced, add {{Template:Afd archive|<results> }}, double space, add the entire discussion, heading and all, single space, add |}. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 23:36, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
I have just become familiar with the Wikipedia afd process and am now going to set ours up in a similar style. Wish me luck! Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 23:53, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Yes it worked (finally)! Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 00:54, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

How to archive[edit source]

Once a decision has been reached on whether an article will be deleted, follow these steps:

  1. Click the [edit] next to the discussion you wish to close.
  2. At the top, below the ==[[Page name]]== header but above the discussion, place {{subst:vfd top|result=(here is where the decision is put)}}.
  3. At the bottom, place {{subst:vfd bottom}}. Save.
  4. If kept, remove the {{vfd}} from the page in question.
  5. Admins: If an article has gone through the Vfd process and it is decided that it will be deleted, delete the page if another admin has not already done so.

After a signifigant amount of archived Vfds have accumulated, they will be added to an archive page.

Admin closing rights[edit source]

Does anyone feel there should be a rule against admins closing their own nominations? Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 19:40, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Explain? Shadowdancer 19:44, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Let's say there is an article I'm against, but it's controversial. I nominate it for deletion, and two people agree to delete. Someone comes along and opposes, but that's the only opposition within a short period of time, such as a week. Then I quickly delete the article citing consensus, and someone challenges my decision as bias. Since we haven't had this issue yet, it's difficult to imagine it, but at least for now, should we have this? Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 19:49, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Good point... Admins should never close off a controversial debate that they've started themselves, I think. Oddlyoko 05:01, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Speedy deletion[edit source]

What happens if an article was nominated for deletion but was then speedily deleted via the speedy deletion template? Should the left-over Vfd be deleted, or should it be archived with a note that says it was speedily deleted? Couchpotato99 23:32, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Just remove it since the discussion was nullified by the speedy delete. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 23:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

"this article's entry"??[edit source]

Click this article's entry? that confuses me, like, am I supposed to click so I am ON that page, or click to where I'm EDITING that page, or the TALK page, or a page ABOUT another page, and what exactly is "this article"!? --Atlantima 18:45, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Ohhh, never mind, I see now it means the link in the vfd template that says this article's entry--Atlantima 18:49, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Not a Democracy[edit source]

Wikipedia is not a Democracy. Instead of just voting on whether or not to delete and article, we should have discussions and follow the same procedures that Wikipedia uses. Suggested reading:

I think we've seen the failures of a simple majority vote multiple times on this wiki and we need to change the way we operate. --Wowbagger421 22:50, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Just commenting, but this isn't Wikipedia. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!Loon is best buttlord 22:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
True. Are you suggesting that we write our own policies? Or that we continue to do whatever it is we're doing now? --Wowbagger421 23:05, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
No, I'm just saying that this isn't Wikipedia, so we shouldn't go by their rules because if their's change, our's change. I suggest adopting them (because they seem fine to me) and changing them wherever we find necessary. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!Loon is best buttlord 23:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea. Let's decide which policies to adopt and which don't apply to our wiki. Then we can make pages for them here and make changes as we see fit. --Wowbagger421 23:20, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

wikipedia and RS wikia have some similarities, but mostly differences. i don't believe we should completely follow there rules, as we all know about something they probably don't:runescape. Runecrafting-icon.png Stormsaw1 Talk Sign HighscoresRunecrafting-icon.png 20:21, December 24, 2009 (UTC)

Do we have to be Admins?[edit source]

Do we have to be Admins to list an article?~~Signed,Bulbear4444Slayer's respite.png~~ 16:11, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

No, just to close & archive a discussion. HYYVKBucket detail.pngrwojy 16:14, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

Wha....[edit source]

OMG! Sorry, but IMHO it looks terrible. Anyone else want to weigh in? --Aburnett(Talk) 02:03, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Why? :( ajr 02:05, August 4, 2010 (UTC)
It looks like something out of Wikipedia to me. Pristine. --Coolnesse 02:19, August 4, 2010 (UTC)
It just looks choppy and broken up, everything doesn't mesh together nicely which leaves an awkward white space. --Aburnett(Talk) 02:26, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

I have to agree with Aburnett on this. It just doesn't look right...too much green, archives take up too much space, etc. HaloTalk 02:28, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Er, I see what the issue is. I'm using percents for the table spacing, and Aburnett obviously has a larger monitor than me. As for Hal, are you using the heroes theme? If so, those are the problems, and I'll need to modify the page accordingly. Could you both please provide screenshots for me? Thanks, ajr 02:31, August 4, 2010 (UTC)
I use the default stuff. And I'm not taking any screenies unless I get SK again. HaloTalk 02:53, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

I do think that it looks good, but I don't think its appropriate for a project page. No other project page has additional formatting like this, and it doesn't really serve any function. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 02:44, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Meh, if you guys don't like it, it can be easily removed (and I have now done that). ajr 02:46, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Information needed[edit source]

  • How long a RFD vote may last?
