Okay, so I think the most important thing we have to figure out is the guidelines for what to add. I think that it should be updated at least 5 times a week (more than the site notice). That means we should state each day: Hot topics on the yew grove, wiki news, (omg hold that thought had a GREAT idea..see after this sentence), and other stuff. Okay so there was this thread recently on the forums, what we can do is have maybe about a list of 5 'featured' stubs of the day and update those on there. kk back on track..we can also add to the calendar section 99 parties, the events the wiki hosts, and player events. I agree, things like wikifests which are made by the wiki are fine, it is just how do we define which player event is notable enough to be included?? This will lead to the same arguments that occurred over the YouTube page, so I think it is better to just not allow any player events. The only events we should be mentioning are Wikifest IMO. In any case, could someone explain to me why we have this rule: Please note, that you should not attempt to add any FB admin as a friend unless you have explicit permission.? I don't see any issues with adding other admins as friends, they can still accept or decline. C.ChiamTalk 07:20, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

I changed it so it said not to disclose others' private information. Remember, fans cannot see the page admins; Only if they come to the wiki and look at that project page. Even then, there is no link so there might be heaps of people with that name and they have no idea which one they area. Even then, I don't think they'd go to that much trouble. Just so everyone knows, I will not be adding anyone off this Wiki to my Facebook friends for a number of reasons. I used to keep my Facebook strictly IRL, then I allowed people I know through the internet to add me, and it impacted negatively on this social tool. Maybe in future I will add people. Photo's[edit source]

The wiki page has been created (and I'd like to be a moderator please). In addition to the comments we may post, I think we should take the initiative to utilize it to the maximum, make it a viable community space to check up on things that might not normally appear on the wiki here, or would only appear on userpages. Much like Jagex runs their RuneScape facebook, it's less formal meaning. They post pictures and information on an individual scale and I feel we can offer the same for our members. I propose that as a community we can support each other this way.

I'd like it if we can post pictures of in-game events our members hold in the photo-album (such as level 99's, cc clan wars, wiki-fest, etc.), as approved by a moderator of the channel. We are not opening it to the public to post, still only those with the access rights, but it can be a great medium to bring additional awareness and interest to the facebook viewer. "Look, they have all these community members and these events and in-game fun*

This does not mean posting user events, only posting images of events we are given involving the community members

I will take on managing the photo's section and albums, if the users agree. Photo's may be e-mailed to me?

Support pics of 99 parties Because its always wikians at them. So if you have been here one day, submit a 99 pic and no one we know is there, I will ignore the request. But (game) pics of wikians will give us pics for our albums, I don't think it would be a problem. I see the FB page as the more fun side of what we are.--Degenret01 19:03, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

Support with limits - Sounds good, though I think it would be good to somehow limit it so users don't just submit images without being members of our community. Something like images have to have a few wikians (3-5+) who qualify to be on the wikian hiscores list (looks to be 100 non-user/user talk/sandbox edits)... or something. We should sign all the posts, as if an admin, it posts on behalf of the RuneScape Wiki, not our individual account. Signing will distinguish who placed the post on the page.

Not sure. I'm gonna allow it because it allows all users to get involved and creates a sense of belonging and community. We can easily remove inappropriate posts. Now that I think about it, I think wall posts are not allowed but comments are. Chicken7 >talk 14:42, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, wall posts are more visable and for the admins to get the news out. Comments are small and hidden (if one wishes) so they can just see the updates. scoot4.pngscooties 22:19, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

Featured Facebook Image?[edit source]

I was thinking you could put some of the Wiki's best images on there, with credit to the taker. Like Fimg but with stricter guidelines, like 100% support or something. --

Events[edit source]

There is a section for events. Do we use it for only Official Wiki Events, like the wiki-fest, or do we allow approved events by administrators to be placed there on behalf of our users for their events?

Up the top we agreed to only show mention official wiki events on the facebook page (like the wikifest). The whole premis which this page was founded on was that we wouldn't have private functions on there, to prevent all the problems that occurred with the youtube page. What can and can't be posted[edit source]

I think that we need some rules saying what can and can't be posted on Facebook. Here is some outlines which I just thought up. I will put points which I think will be moot at the bottom.

Posting on the wall[edit source]

  • Talk about any recent updates by Jagex unless they have had a direct influence on the wiki. (to prevent blogging)
  • After every wall comment, please remember DO NOT sign with your wiki username.
  • Post messages about site notices, article and user of the month, the creation of wikiguilds, wiki events and wikinews whenever a new one of them occurs. You can also post about important wiki news,but please do not get carried away into other topics.

Photos[edit source]

  • Photos of official wiki events such as wikifest.

Events[edit source]

  • Only create events for official wiki events such as wikifest.

Still to be decided[edit source]

  • Whenever posting a comment freelance about the wiki, check whether it is actually of any interest for a wikian who doesn't visit Yew Grove. A majority of fans wouldn't read Yew Grove and thus wouldn't be interested in the background politics of the wiki.
  • Photos of player events like 99 parties.

Well, we already have a discussion going on above about the photo's. I feel we can use the facebook as a medium to show a lighter, less formal side of the wiki. It should be a place to relax and to show others the fun we have outside of creating "official" events. If a player from our wiki is hosting an event we should honor their community spirit for the wiki and the game. It doesn't need to be official with us, and it shows the wiki community that we are as involved behind the scenes as community members as were are creating this encyclopedia. I thinks photo's of these should be posted (provided they are from a wikian). Blogs and such are needed as well as player made events don't need to be listed. As for recent updates, I think it's a good idea to request opinions. We can't formally do that here so it lets people voice their concern, and we might get some nice trivia for our articles ;) 12:41, January 23, 2010 (UTC)

While I don't think it it is great to post mindless messages copied word-for-word from the site notice, I think that we should only post things which people might vaguely be interested in. Photos by wikians are really not of any interest to a majority of the people that are fans since it doesn't concern them at all. It is a bit like having photos of someone else's holidays. Showing photos of the event isn't really of much interest to anyone except the party that were there and therefore shouldn't really be posted imo. As for blogging, I don't see why it is needed since it has nothing to do with the wiki or the wiki community and is the most likely thing to be vandalised due to some people being very opinionated about updates. This page seems to have a good way of talking about updates so that it is informative yet interesting. I am not saying destroy all community aspects, I just think that we should post stuff that would be of interest to someone other then the poster.
