Photobucket[edit source]

Anyone else notice that the images that are hosted by photobucket aren't showing up as images on the wiki anymore, they're showing up as links?o_O As I DK 20:21, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

I noticed that this happens sometimes. However, at the moment I'm writing, they show up as images (I have some on my userpage). Second-abyssal-whip.pngPatheticcockroachGuthan's platebody.png(Talk) 21:13, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Actually, mine aren't working ;( this happens every few weeks or so, though usually it doesn't take so long to fix.. just have to wait it out really. ChristineTalk 23:03, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Can anyone suggest a good, free or inexpensive ($20 or less) program I can use to create transparent images? I'd like to help with images here, but don't really know where to start. --nekobawt 19:07, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program. It's free.   az talk   19:33, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
I've always used Paint.Net for all of my imaging purposes. It allows transparency and multi-layering, among many other things. Karlis (talk) (contribs) 12:25, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Formats[edit source]

"It is recommended images be either in PNG format or in GIF format. While JPEG (or JPG) format may be used, it is generally not recommended, and will be replaced with a better image."

I agree that JPGs are usually inappropriate (with the exception of photographs, for example of Geoff Iddison), but the implication here is that there is no importance difference between PNGs and GIFs. However, this is not the case. Animations probably should be GIFs, since animated PNGs are not widely supported. Static images surely should be PNGs Not GIFs, since PNGs offer so many advantages. If we switch a file from GIF to PNG later, we lose the version history. Additionally, these guidelines give no mention of SVGs, though admittedly these are only applicable to selected images for the wiki itself. In any case, I think the guidelines should at the very least recommend PNG for static images wherever possible, but I thought I should open a discussion before changing anything. The new D'hide sets[edit source]

Most pieces of the new sets still need images, and those that exist are poor quality. Someone needs to screen the full sets worn and put them in the appropriate articles. Icecold531 00:00, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

Article updated[edit source]

I agree that this page leaves out lots and lots of information. That is why I changed the emphasis to a beginner's guide. The real policy is at RuneScape:Images and media policy. ~J22f~TGC 20:39, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
