Auto-updating GE Item prices.[edit source]

I think this system is great, but the updateing of prices for me is a bit silly.

Since it is know when the market changes (When the prices change every day, it only happens at a certian time), why don't you guys make the update work like this:

Every time the item's page (Either actual page or exchange page, I think both should have the feature) is loaded, call an OnLoad funtion to automatically update the price.

In order to stop the servers on the wiki from exploding from all the update requests, have the page check what time it is (some js script I'd guess, although there are many ways) and decide when it was last updated.  If the item was already updated for that day, don't update the price.

Have the script structure look something like this:

OnLoad ()

      if (date>=Last updated time);

Sorry for the extremely late response, but that wouldn't work. Because of the large amount of visitors, this would post too many requests to Jagex's servers. Since the script requires a site that fetches the data (external JavaScripts can't access the data directly). Since that site would be making so many requests to the servers then, it would be blocked from accessing the servers (Jagex's anti-spam system). Because of that, it wouldn't work.
