Well, I got bored - I was sitting at Witchhaven spamming the same clue, not getting rewards, and watching my 48K exp til 99 attack not move- but I felt good to help with the event. It was chaotic, but we can learn from the problems that we had this time and use the knowledge to make the next one better. Good overall.--Scimitar77 00:11, February 6, 2011 (UTC)

Feedback[edit source]

I'm going to give feedback now because I'm not even going to bother trying to finish the event. I understand the reason behind only giving successive clues once you've found the mod. But it kind of means one person is going to get them all, because he can figure out the first clue. Everyone else is stuck until they figure it out, and while that's happening, the person who figured out the first one is gaining an unassailable lead. Good event, but it would have been a bit more competitive if clues had been given in the chat. (wszx) 20:19, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

My prediction didn't seem to have been borne out by fact, but I still think it would be a good idea to release clues in the cc (perhaps after the mod after that clue has been first found) so that more people can participate. I also think some of the clues were a bit strange; for instance I still don't understand how #2 was supposed to lead you to TzHaar, and #6 would probably have been better served leading them to a "font" or "fount" of knowledge. But conceptually this was a fun event. In the future, I would like to see Mods doing less blathering while the cc is muted, though. When only mods can talk, try to stick to business. Sad and Jad'ed adventurers often end up here. People that do large amounts of clue scrolls would have picked up on it easier as it was in jagex's style of "find the odd word out". - [Pharos] iPhone Edit 00:22, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
Was the clue supposed to have that formatting? Because Mog just said "jaded", all minuscule and without apostrophes. If not, it was kind of problematic because I imagine more people thought "jade vine" or "jade stone" rather than "let's split this word up to find Jad". (wszx) 00:37, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
No, it wasn't, I was just emphasizing the word. You have a point there, I just imagined that sad would have directed them to jad because I dint think of jade but it's still a bit vague... I would have thought it would take minutes for some of the higher levels to check both but it appears people skipped it completely.
Another problem was the fact that the ess mine has four major sections :/ a few people I talked to said they checked aubury and moved onto secondary guesses when they didn't find anything... - [Pharos] iPhone Edit 00:53, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
If we give all the clues beforehand, how will we stop people from skipping however many they want, or waiting a while then just running straight to the finish line? It was a great event if you ask me, but there were a few flaws. First of all, the mods were standing in places that were too easy to randomly go to, for example, I randomly teleported to rellekka and ran into Andorin. I expected mods to stand in places that nobody would randomly go to, like the top floor of falador party room. Then, you should never have changed a clue. Who cares if only a few people managed to solve it, it is meant to be hard. Changing the clue is unfair to the people who solved it beforehand. Still, it was the most enjoyable wiki event I've been to, and it should certainly be repeated again. Oh, and on that note, I particularly enjoyed the clue: "I herd u liek mudskips". It made me lol. This event was epic =) I really hope you choose to do it again. A few things crossed my mind: Clue #6, like others have said, was too difficult prior to the change. It had too many possible answers. I went to the dig site, exam centre, wise old man, Reldo, Roddeck, Varrock Museum, random libraries, various fountains... The Oracle was way too obscure. And, I don't think people know of her until they do Dragon Slayer (not a Novice quest), so I think it was a bit unfair. Then I also think the clue about the 'phites' points to the bandit camp bar rather than Pollnivneach, a lot more brawling going on there (and closer to Kalphites ;)! The other clues I think were fine, even #2 although it took a while to figure out! I don't know if you did, but you should probably have a few people test-run the trail. And, if possible have a few back-up mods in case someone has an emergency or connection issues. I also would like to request more variety in the clues. There was one coordinate, one cipher, one anagram, the rest were wordplay-type riddles. But no 'challenges' ("count the randomrandom's in the whatsit's and PM me the answer"), 'maps' ("between a [thing] and [another thing], close to an ogre") etc. I think that would've been fun =) But overall it was great, I had the best day in a while tbh!
