Move up Time[edit source]

Is it possible to move up the time for the United States. Because 12pm to 3pm (If I remembered Right), isn't a easy time for us to stop at work or school just to play Runescape. USA and Canada is a great portion of Runescape and I bet there would be Atleast 25% more people attend, including me. Cheers. Hair 11:50, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

Hair, 10/8 is a Saturday. Not that many people work on Saturdays. --LiquidTalk 11:56, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

P2P events[edit source]

Why is there no P2P portion of the fest? Previous wikifests had at least some members events. --LiquidTalk 11:56, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

My intention was to host a mostly F2P Wikifest to kick the Event's team's inagural fest off... The time schedule is not yet final, and can change numerous times over the next few weeks. We've planned about a month and a half's worth of events now to test a new advertising theory we have. We may add a P2P portion to the wikifest, but we need suggestions on what people would prefer. Advertising[edit source]

I had a thought for the team. Not to be, I don't know, new-people-aphobic, but I am kind of uneasy at the idea of having a totally open wikifest. Admittedly I've only been to one, but easily the most enjoyable part was seeing people I knew from the chat. If we treat this like a regular ET event and advertise it on the main page to any and all casual visitors, I fear that we're going to have a huge morass of people nobody knows. I'll only speak for myself, but I don't really think that sounds like fun, at all. So while I'll not presume to tell you how to run your events, I do suggest restricting advertising to registered wikians, to hopefully limit the number of people nobody actually knows. I respect this idea, although we still need to know what kind of numbers we will have if only the regular wikians attend the event. I don't want to see another dead wikifest :S RSN: Warthog Rhys Talk Completionist's cape... Coming soon. 15:12, September 21, 2011 (UTC)
That's a fair response. But I think part of the reason the fests died out was not purely from lack of interest but because we had them so often. If you guys host them just once a year (Autumn is fine) then I think it will make people want to come to them. Plus, if you advertise just to logged in users here and then talk about it in the chat, we have enough new people in the chat that I think we'll have a fine turnout. dead time[edit source]

From the fests I helped out at I learned something you really need to take account of. And that is that people hate dead time/waiting time. I am sure you see it also in the regular events. You have the first 25 minutes for taking pictures and waiting for latecomers. That is really way too much, 10 minutes should be the max. If people are not doing anything they will get bored, bitch about "When is this starting", and leave and then try to come back later, or not come back. That will cause more confusion.--Degenret01 09:14, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
