Author request[edit source]

Pages can be deleted by "Author request (where at least 80%-90% of the page content was submitted by the author)" Surely this can't be true! With the exception of user pages or user talk pages, anything valid that is uploaded as an article (or part of an article) becomes public property, and the contributor relinquishes all control over it. Therefore, they cannot request that it be deleted. There may be a consensus to delete articles that are not appropriate, but an author deciding they want to withdraw their content is surely not a valid reason to delete it. Or am I wrong? I've removed that bit, it's simply absurd to place a statement like that in a policy, no owns wiki material no matter how many edits they've made to it. 21:46, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

The page currently states "It is at the author's request, and only the author has submitted "important" content (i.e. another editor made a typo correction)." which I am rewriting to say they can only only speedy delete subpages of their own userpages. --MarkGyver 05:30, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

Historical Image Discussion[edit source]

A recent change on this policy was as a result of a discussion on Forum:Deleting old images. I am adding this link mainly as reference, and to note that this change was done by community consensus, so modification of these changes ought to go through a similar process. --17:06, May 11, 2010 (UTC)~
