Automatically adding recipes to Module:Recipes/Data[edit source]

Module:Recipes/Data has an outdated list of item pages using {{Infobox recipe}}. A table of these items is generated using the code at User:Tyilo/Recipes/Table, then the Lua generator script at User:Tyilo/Recipes transforms this table into Lua code which can be pasted into Module:Recipes/Data. Currently, this has to be done manually (other than the automated parts). I wonder if someone can make a bot run this code and update Module:Recipes/Data automatically, possibly every time an Infobox recipe is added to a page or periodically. Would do it myself but don't know how Habblet (talk) 22:00, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

Royal crossbow[edit source]

For some reason its stats do not show up when I use the Compare function. Jampolo 07:10, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

I can confirm that this is happening to me too. I think it has to do with items that have multiple versions with different stats - I get the same issue for warpriest equipment, for example. I'd wager this would have to be fixed inside MediaWiki:Gadget-compare-core.js, so we'll probably need an administrator to look at this. -Hourglass (2011 Halloween event) detail.png I Am Me Talk III The Spark.png- 07:22, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
After some further looking, it looks like the issue is that the gadget looks for specific parameter names in the Infobox Bonuses call. This is a problem, because if it expects to find attack speed by looking at the speed parameter, it won't find it under speed1 or speed2 or whatever, and those are the parameters that'll probably be used if there are multiple versions. If some stat is shared between all versions however (like the attack style on the lost sword of King Raddallin) it seems to find that just fine. The attack speed parameter in particular seems broken though, I think the gadget is looking for aspeed instead of speed. Honestly, the gadget probably needs reworking to deal with SMW, rather than trying to parse wikitext. -Hourglass (2011 Halloween event) detail.png I Am Me Talk III The Spark.png- 07:36, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
It seems that gadget is very out-dated. I don't have time to look at it right now, but I did fix it to use the correct speed param name. It will not work with any versioned infobox bonuses however. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 08:55, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

Combat fixes[edit source]

Hello, I've done testing on some of the passives and other stuff in combat and would like to share my findings. I don't know the proper formating or phrasing etc. that goes along with implementing my knowledge, but I can tell you here what I know so someone can pick it up and type it in.

V1.1:

  • Add gemstone armour to set effects. Set effect
  • Add Saradomin arrows, Zamorak arrows, and Guthix arrows to passive effects page. They only proc when used with the respective godbow's spec. Passive effect
  • Add that harmonic resonance from attuned crystal armour let's you get 8 stacks from emeral aurora. Crystal armour Emerald Aurora
  • Add that agility level from tarridad's fury can be increased to do more damage. Crystal armour
  • Add that dfire shield resets auto attack timer, can be used on same tick after ability has been fired, takes 5 ticks. Dragonfire shield Dragonfire ward Dragonfire deflector
  • That vine whip spec can be activated from any distance, sans teleporting (even outside of render distance) Abyssal whip vine
  • Dfire shield's "special attack" is 75% -> 225% ability damage, even in legacy. Dragonfire shield Dragonfire ward Dragonfire deflector
  • I learned a lot about modifiers so we could possibly make a modifiers page. Excited about this one.
  • Offhand auto attacks are canceled if they are on the same tick as a mainhand auto attack. You're losing ticks on the offhand autos, which lowers your dpm. This comes up when using 2 weapons of different speeds in legacy (would happen in eoc but u usually don't let yourself mainhand and offhand auto 2x) Legacy
  • Legacy doesn't have a healcap on soulsplit which also means that it gets mad ecb spec damage. Might want to add that to ecb calculator page. Eldritch crossbow
  • In legacy, blight damage hitsplat used to show as a poison hit with a damage soaking icon over it. Now it's a posion hitsplat with a bright blue hitsplat over it. Eldritch crossbow Hitsplat
  • Vindicta dfire doesn't increase revenge's damage Revenge
  • Crackling armour can be taken off while the cooldown is active then worn again right as it procs. Crackling
  • Dfire bolts are an outlier in modifier land, as they are not affected by style specific modifiers (like scrimshaws and meta and berserker auras) / style non specific modifiers (like mahj aura) Dragon bolts (e) Dragonstone bakriminel bolts (e)
  • Dominion gloves can proc on bleeds but won't increase any damage. They can also proc multiple times on channeled abilities, like concentrated blast or normal fury. Swift gloves Spellcaster gloves Goliath gloves
  • Goliath gloves don't put off-hand autos on cooldown. Goliath gloves
  • Precise increases the max damage of the seren godbow spec and snapshot as much as it increases the minimum hit Precise Seren godbow

V1.1:

  • Strykebow doesn't store damage properly and does much less than expected. Strykebow
  • Sigil abilities can have their cooldowns reduced by bandos warpriest set effect. This may be indirectly stated by wiki (cooldowns over 30 sec can be reduced), but many think of them still as sigils so wouldn't remember it applies to sigils. Bandos warpriest

V1.2:

  • Remove attuned crystal armour from the minigame section on set effects and place it with the reset of the armour. Set effect

I will be adding more as I think of them.

Vindii (talk) 21:50, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Added the first 4 changes (Gemstone armour in set effects, god arrows on passive effects page, harmonic resonance and agility lvl to attuned crystal armour) Juha686 (talk) 18:21, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Average drop value on Araxxi page[edit source]

I have added the average drop value template to the Araxxi page, and at the same time added droprates for food & potions portion of the drops. However theres two issues with this.

1. The page keeps "disappearing" so that modules can not find araxxi's drops, and a search like this gives no results: https://runescape.wiki/?title=Property%3ADrop+from&limit=20&offset=0&filter=Araxxi as a result of this, the average drop value is often 0 and can only be fixed with a null edit.

2. Potion flasks are not counted towards the average drop value, for example https://runescape.wiki/?title=Property%3ADrop+from&limit=20&offset=0&filter=Araxxi shows the following:

  • Araxxi#DROP Saradomin brew flask#(6) 9–15 1/3 8

but the actual module does not get any properties for this, and likely opens the following that has no properties:

  • Araxxi#DROP Saradomin brew flask

So problem #1 is causing the average drop value to not show up at all, and problem #2 is causing it to be off by around 100k (the value of the flasks)

These problems are pretty strange and I have not been able to figure them out, so if anyone has any insights or solutions they would be appreciated.

Juha686 (talk) 14:53, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

The second issue, is actually the same issue as the first, they're both smw issues with that page, but as far as I know we haven't been able to figure out why smw does not like the page. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 07:38, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
Jakesterwars did a fix for the average drop value for osw and ported it over to rsw with a modification and it appears to have solved the brew flask issue, now only the original smw issue remains Juha686 (talk) 19:59, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
SMW properties were fixed so this section is essentially solved Juha686 (talk) 19:10, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Module thing?[edit source]

Would it be possible for me to copy the infobox monster thing but personalized for my own page? I tried to make the page by copying & pasting the code from the other page but it ends up like this: https://imgur.com/jwkBxQG

Is there something special I need to do to make it work as code?

The hit calc is a gadget, you can disable it in Special:Preferences -> Gadgets, but that will remove it from the normal pages too. It gets added based on the infobox-monster class, so you could remove that from the infobox you're creating. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 07:07, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

OSRS-linking template[edit source]

The OSRS-wiki has a template Template:RSL , which can be used to link to RS-wiki articles where it's appropriate. Why does there not exist a template that goes the other way. Example: Volcanic ash shouldn't use the external template as OSRS volcanic ash is something entirely different. Instead I would add a link in the trivia section, but there is currently no template to support this Exaldin (talk) 20:54, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

I'm not sure what benefit(s) there would be of creating such a template. There's no need to use a template at all if you're just trying to create a link - the existing [[osrsw:Article name]] link syntax already being used should suffice for that. MrDew (talk) 21:38, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
You can do this without a template, simply use [[osrsw:Page name|text to display]] to link to the OSRS wiki. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 07:21, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

SearchDigest suggestions[edit source]

Have spent a bit too much time lately on SearchDigest redirecting. Not sure if possible, but some things that could make it easier/smoother:

  1. Can the ones that already have a redirect page be (auto) moved to a different page, so that they don't clutter the whole list? Feels a bit redundant to skip whole pages sometimes. (And that's with 500 per page.)
  2. Would it be possible to leave a note, text or even a predefined number, or something? Some searches simply don't have a good redirect, mostly due to there being more than 1 'reasonable' option for a page to redirect to. Maybe they should stay in the list (see point 1), but it could have a lower priority to be looked at if someone already went through that thought process.

Neb (talk) 21:49, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

For 1, I'm not sure how flexible the implementation is to be able to allow that, but I'll pass the feedback to the developer. For 2, if there's no good single page it might be a good candidate for a disambiguation page or a redirect to an existing disambiguation page where we can give readers a choice for where they want to end up. Alternatively, we can pick one page for the redirect and make use of the seealso template. cqm talk 07:17, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
2: Makes sense to use them for it, I guess I was just hesitant to make them. Or to improve an existing (disambig) page. Thanks! Neb (talk) 11:32, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

How to reference cells in a table?[edit source]

Hey there, I'm trying to upgrade a table to include two columns regarding how the costs of making signs change when one uses the Modified Diviner's Headwear (which effectively decreases the cost by 2.5%).

Is there a way to have the formulas reference cells in this table, for example: =((D2 + F2)/H2), or do all of the formulas have to be done manually as is currently the case in the table?

Cheers, Perigin3 (talk) 08:32, 08 December 2020 (UTC)

Sadly all formulas have to be done manually. Unless you use variables but you still have to set them in the one cell and then get them in the other. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 08:39, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

Make a table into a template for weapon poison potions[edit source]

Hi. I just added a table comparing the four different weapon poison potions on Weapon poison (disambiguation) which should be moved to the indiviual weapon poison pages - could someone make it a template? tnx Chrislee33 (talk) 07:19, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Done, and I've added it to the pages. Keep in mind that tables like that shouldn't be on disambiguation pages. Thanks, Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 10:55, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Misleading slayer log information[edit source]

The Template:Boss collection log items page used on Slayer collection log is somewhat misleading. It states that the wyvern c'bow, camel staff, and ripper claws are all 1/50 drops. However, obtaining these items from the raptor's chest does not tick them off in the slayer log. Of course the module used in the template takes these rates from the pages automatically. The collection log module should ignore the raptor's chest entries and focus on the actual drop rates from respective monsters. I don't know how to code this though. I'd appreciate assistance in this matter. Thanks in advance. 5-x (Talk) 11:59, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Just to confirm, the entire list of drops from Raptor's chest of slaying should be ignored since getting any drops from that chest won't show completion in terms of the collection log. Is that correct? MrDew (talk) 12:07, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
Wyvern crossbow, camel staff, ripper claw, and off-hand ripper claw. Sirenic scales are also a possibility from the chest and they will also not track if obtained this way. I think the chest could just be ignored as a whole. 5-x (Talk) 12:18, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
Done. Module:Boss collection log has been updated to ignore all drops from that chest, and Slayer collection log should now list the "actual" drop rates for those items. MrDew (talk) 12:20, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. It's a good start. The module will need some further work because the page can't claim that the 1/10k drop rate for wyvern c'bow and ripper claws is the highest since these items have a different drop rate on-task. For some reason it works correctly for camel staff though, and this follows the example of nightmare gauntlets. 5-x (Talk) 12:32, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, two things. First, you're on the wrong wiki! This wiki is for the RuneScape version of the game, while this link leads to the Old School version of the game. Second, the new hot/cold clue found on the Isle of Souls has already added to the guide last week. -- Recent uploads SpineTalkGuest book 05:01, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Money making guide recurring methods, some are available to F2P[edit source]

Hey, I noticed that some of the recurring methods of money making are fully or partially available to F2P players, but are marked as members only. I also don't know how to edit this.

https://runescape.wiki/w/Money_making_guide#Recurring_methods

Buying bagged plants - fully available

Making pizza bases at Mess Sergeant Ramsey's shop - fully available

Buying feathers - 2 shops are available (Port Sarim and Lumbridge)

Buying runes - 3 shops are available with non-member runes (Burthorpe, Varrock and Port Sarim)

How do you change the Member/Free-to-play tag on these methods? And is there a way to tag the last 2 that I mentioned with a f2p/p2p tag?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.246.120.119 (talk) on 12:06, 23 March 2021 (UTC).

I have changed the first to methods to f2p by adding |Members = No to the {{Mmgtable recurring}} template params on the individual pages. For the last 2 it might be work creating f2p versions of the methods as the gp/h would greatly vary. Lava hawk.png BlackHawk (Talk)    12:54, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Making a 2nd and 3rd Hiscore template?[edit source]

So I was wondering how I could make both a 2nd and 3rd Hiscore template; one for Ironman Mode mode and one for Hardcore mode (since iron and hardcores both have a different set of highscores). I made this page which is basically empty and edited this one with all of the Hiscore template's info, but I'm not sure what to do with it now because it also uses the other hiscore template. I couldn't find anything mentioning 'hiscore' as far as URL goes (in either template) so I don't know what to do or edit here lol

I suppose an arguably better(?) alternative would be adding another option to the existing Hiscore template that lets you pick between 'main', 'iron', and 'hcim' and have it just default to main normally. I guess that would be easier(?) to do but I have no idea how to program those in lol

Thanks, Chee the Ravensworn (skill: 3012)  Choose OptionTalk-to Chee the Ravensworn (skill: 3012)Follow Chee the Ravensworn (skill: 3012)Examine Chee the Ravensworn (skill: 3012)Walk hereCancel 03:38, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

The hiscores themselves work through the #hs: parser function provided by the RSHiScores extension. From what I can tell the extension would need to be modified to support iron/hardcore scores but I've asked someone who works on the extension to get back to you. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 10:29, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
The extension supports more than just standard hiscores and has done for a while. In the hiscores template, it's hardcoded to rs3 ({{#hs:rs3|...}}), but if that's changed to rs3-ironman or rs3-hardcore, you can lookup ironman or hcim. Looks like the docs are incomplete on that front and I doubt it's been tested since it was implemented, but it should still work unless URLs have changed or Incapsula is getting in the way. cqm talk 14:27, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Okay! Thank you! I didn't check to see if rs3-ironman worked lol

Skillcape SMW Issue[edit source]

On multiple Skillcape pages, the store location does not show the location of the "shop" (the NPC) which sells the capes. I was trying to mess with some stuff to fix it, but I don't do well at SMW... at all. An example page is: Mining cape; I believe it's because Gadrin does not have the Store location SMW value, nor do the other NPCs that sell these capes. Can someone please fix this. -Legaia 2 Pla · ʟ · 22:28, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

I assume because that property is set by {{Infobox shop}} which is not on npc pages. I think other NPC shop pages were split from the npc themselves but for these it's probably not worth doing for these cases. I just used set on the Gadrin page, can probably use the same method on other skill cape npcs. The code itself is just {{#set:Store location=Mining Guild}}, and I'd put it above the store table templates for visibility. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 16:30, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
