Request Cancelled -- I no longer feel I deserve adminship, much less being on the Wiki. Maybe someday I'll change my mind, but, for now. Please archive this Grim reaper hood.png Ben RyfosTalk 04:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

The reason I'm requesting sysop powers is mainly because I have been consistantly reverting vandalism, and even suggesting (and bugging Tesfan to edit for me) changes to protected articles. I'm looking to make a few more changes in the MediaWiki namespace (adding to the Insert template: box on the edit page, for starters), and would like the ability to change this directly, rather than thru a sysop.

I've been around the wiki for several months, starting in early November 2007, and during that time I've made almost 1100 edits. I started by helping build the Grand Exchange Market Watch section, I've categorized every uncategorized page and every uncategorized category on the wiki, and am currently working on categorizing all the images on the wiki. I know most of my edits are minor, but I'm not here to make huge edits: my goal was always to do the little things that most people have left out. Grim reaper hood.png Ben RyfosTalk 01:55, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I, Nq2h, accept this nomination for adminship. I have read the policies concerning administrators. I realize that this nomination may fail. If I do get community consensus, I promise not to abuse my powers because I realize that this is a serious offence and if the community finds that I have done so, my powers will be revoked and in extreme cases I could be given a community ban. Signed, Grim reaper hood.png Ben RyfosTalk 01:56, 1 February 2008 (UTC).

Discussion

Pending - Wow. You've made over 200 edits, most minor though, on January 31st. Just... Wow. I certainly know my hands get tired of categorizing after 50. You've proven to be a good and trustable editor, and you've made good use of your rollback abilities. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!I have 12 friends. 02:02, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Comment - My hands don't get tired because my hands are used to typing all day. I'm schooled from home over the internet. And yeah, uncategorized pages are -REALLY- annoying... so, I fix them. lol Grim reaper hood.png Ben RyfosTalk 03:04, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Support So he can stop asking me to edit protected pages for him XD. Seriously though, he has reverted more then his fair share of vandalism, and has more then plenty of edits (much more then I made when I was sysoped, that's for sure). Support - He's a great contributer to the wiki, and has made over seven hundred edits to the wiki. Also, from what I have heard, he is always dealing with vandal attacks and categorizing pages. His contributions to the wiki would make him a great admin. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 04:03, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Friendly nice oppose Nothing against you and this is not an attempt to get revenge or anything "i have nothing to gain revenge about but you get the idea :P" but on my RfA they mentioned something about not having many main edits and simply not being here long enough. He has only been here for slightly over a month and i believe 80% of his major edits should have been marked as minors [I have been stalking you :O]. again nothing against you but in the future you'll have my vote.Bandos godsword.pngJmoDragon platebody.png, 04:20, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Comment - Yes, I tend to forget to mark the minor checkbox, but I'm sure many others do when massively editing simple things, like adding categories. And a minor correction: I started 2 months, and 3 days ago. Grim reaper hood.png Ben RyfosTalk 04:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Support You seem to always have useful contributions and fit all the requirements to be an admin so I don't see any reason not to support. --Amulet of nature.pngMakemesmileMud battlestaff.png 04:40, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Support You are very trustworthy, and I believe that you're one of the few who is truly a contributor (like Tarikochi, Christine, and Skill or a few others) in that you really try to get everything to be the way a wiki should be! For example, I've recently seen pages that are TOTALLY un-encyclopedic, but you fixed them up and made them shine! Once again, you have my support! And this is unrelated to RFAs, but why do you have stats higher than one in member's skills like Summoning if it says on your page that you're a free player?7kyt1iT.gif --WINE OF GOOD HEALTH (Actually Stinko)

Unrelated Comment - It says he has a player-owned house, too. Did you put the wrong userbox on, Ben? White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 17:41, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Unrelated Comment- I'm a member during certain times of the year, however, I'm currently playing on free though.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by nq2h (talk).

Support - As many people know, and as I've even put on my userpage before, I don't make large edits and I don't write out whole articles or completely rewrite them either. I don't think that's necessary for adminship. I admit that I generally base votes on number of main edits, but I don't think I ever have on the size of them - I'm not one to judge. I think that for someone to take the time to make so many minor edits shows dedication, which is what we really need in an admin. I value an editor who will make the tedious edits that not many people want to do. Although some may consider it spamming recent changes, or not helping the wiki at all, small edits like categorizing images and pages help the wiki immensely with respect to its organization and navigability. We also need someone who won't just get the rights and then disappear as a few have before. I'm really confidant that Nq2h will remain a dedicated editor even after he becomes an admin. Besides, it's the OCD thing that really keeps you here [I would know, all those deletions and wanteds and updates and random minor edits that I sometimes get criticized for]. And, if one can believe all that they read on the internet, Ben's interests include: "Programming, games, anything out of the house." Well the programming is enough, along with the fact that he's majoring in Computer Science, to convince me that he actually WOULD know what to edit on MediaWiki, something I can barely do (besides the copy+pasting when adding new admins to the color list, lol). As others have also mentioned, Ben has recently gotten rollback rights and has used them properly. Twice so far I've tried to revert a page, only getting an error that he's already done it. >_> When in IRC, where he can often be found now, he'll ask an admin present to block a vandalizing IP or user. It's obvious that such users could be banned and stopped quicker if the first person to see the edits could be the one to block (and one of those conflicting rollbacks WAS a time where an IP seemed to be on a spree, rather than just one edit). So, now that I've finished my short story, I hope you get the point that I think Ben is an extremely qualified nominee for adminship. ChristineTalkFlickr 22:38, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Support. Er, after the essay above I'm not sure what more I can say :-). Having admin rights will make it easier for him to make his contributions to the wiki, and I can't see any reasons to oppose. Pointy 01:50, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

I knew I wrote too much >_> glad I made my point though? :D ChristineTalkFlickr 01:53, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Support. He is someone that is really interested in the Wiki, and isn't as lazy editing things as I am, Heheh. Jigo22 18:48, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Support - We can never have enough sysops, and you've proven yourself worthy. Good luck on the nomination.Yellow partyhat.png Ilyas Talk Contribs 16:01, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Support – Great category-adder, especially on the Summoning pages ive made. I know you will do well when you are a sysop. --Hypermark 17:27, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Support - for many of the reasons already stated. Chrislee33 06:30, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Not yet - You have proved to be dedicated and hardworking with all the clicking you've probably done, but out of your first 1,900 edits, probably at least 1,650 are minor. One minor edit, such as categorizing, fixing a typo, making a link or two, are probably that of one fifth of a smaller non-minor edit at the most. With this conversion rate, if the same amount of work was put together into non-minor edits, the editcount would be more around 800 than 2,000. Most of the things you've done is categorizing and fixing double redirects, but as far as I've searched through your contributions, you've made no edits where content is added. Lastly, activeness has been a mini-problem in the past. You've taken many mini-wikibreaks from 11/30 to 12/14, 12/21 to 12/30, 1/8 to 1/13, and 1/13 to 1/19. I, myself, can only say you've been active from January 19th - just about two weeks. You have, yes, helped the wiki a lot in the case of navigation, but you haven't contributed that much in the case of content. If you are active more, and add content more, I'll support. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!I have 12 friends. 06:49, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Comment - Chia, please consider that a lot of the people here have more important things to do than sit around infront of a computer every day. 2 weeks of "wikibreak" (or is it even so?) isn't much. If you think he's undeserving for that, you might as well say that I should be stripped of my powers.Yellow partyhat.png Ilyas Talk Contribs 20:37, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Support of my 4k+ main edits, most of them are minor. It is people like Ben that this wiki needs. Someone to pay attention to the details. Also Chia, most of your edits are redirects and player dictionary entries...should you not be a admin? Wintumber tree.png Atlandy 21:36, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

That's not true. For starters, not even half of my edits are mainspace edits, and no where near half of those are to the Player Dictionary article, or are redirects. So, no, I should not not be an admin for such edits. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!I have 12 friends. 04:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Support and Comment - I really don't understand all this ado about the number of edits (not to mention the "mini-wikibreaks")... bascially, a sysop is just supposed to handle vandalism, delete duplicates, etc: to make it short they're given extra abilities so they can help even more the wiki. To make large edits, upload pictures, etc, you don't need to be a sysop. To fight vandalism, it helps much to be a sysop, otherwise you are condemned to tag spam pages with {{d}}, reverting blanking while the vandal can still re-blank after this, and eventually add names/IPs on the CVU page because you have no way to end a "vandalization spree" by yourself. Being a sysop is not a big deal, and as long as you're sure the sysop won't vandal, accidentally break things, or more generally misuse their abilities, well, they can be a sysop, even if you see them only 10 days a month (and I believe there are some sysops that we don't see that often) or if they've "only" made 1k edits. If one of the sysop was on the wiki 24h/24, 7days/week and 365days/year, then there would be no point in adding other sysops, but it's not the case : everyone can't be here every day, and not all day long... Having more sysops increases the percentage of time during which at least one sysop is around the wiki, that's the point of adding sysops. Support - Ben is helpful with fellow editors while seriously taking a bite out of vandalism. He's quite intelligent, he performs tedious tasks that most editors don't, and he's efficient. I really don't care how long he's been here, he's already proven that he's nothing but a benefit to the wiki and a great candidate for adminship. Verac's helm.pngAs I DK (talk)Blue charm.png 13:18, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Weak Support/Neutral This guy does incredible amounts of edits, and really seems to know what he does. I'm not completely sure he is a perfect candidate quite yet, but if he does get it, he can handle it.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 1diehard1 (talk).

Support - I intended to post my support last week but forgot. You already do things that an admin should, so you should have sysop power to make said things easier. Endasil (Talk) @ 03:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
