One Small Wiki Favour is a project to improve the RuneScape Wiki, where wiki users can contribute to a number of ongoing wiki tasks and qualify for receiving in-game rewards, including bonds. Anyone is welcome to participate, whether you're completely new to the wiki or you've been here for a while. If you have not edited before, then this is a great time to get involved!

To participate in this project and GET BOND, take a look at the tasks below and find one that looks exciting -- completing any one of them will earn you a share of a bond. Each task has some advice on how to effectively tackle it, but we strongly recommend joining the #one-small-wiki-favour channel in our Discord to coordinate with other editors, discuss the project, and claim your rewards.

Tasks[edit source]

These specific tasks will be active until 23 April, or until someone finishes them.

If you have completed a goal please pop onto Discord and ask one of the wiki admins to check your contributions and award you a bond. If you have done work on a goal but not managed to complete it fully by the end of the week you may still be rewarded some coins for your work. You can easily contact the admins by mentioning @rs wiki admins in the #one-small-wiki-favour channel.

Compass clue location images[edit source]

Task: Take 30 compass clue location images.

The images that we have of possible compass clue locations on Treasure Trails/Guide/Compass are very outdated. We are looking for Treasure Trails enthusiasts who can update our existing images and create new images for any locations that are not currently documented on the page. Please see RuneScape:Editing/Taking images for a guide on how to set your in-game graphics settings to take high-quality images for the wiki (use the guidelines for locations when taking compass clue images). Additional standards for compass clue images are:

  • Unequip all items/cosmetic overrides.
  • No visible interfaces except the minimap in the top right of the image.
  • Crop image to 860x540px if possible.

For an example of a good location image see below:

Animations[edit source]

Task: Retake 30 animations.

Retake 30 low quality/outdated animations from Category:Animations needing to be retaken.

You can find a guide on how to create .gif animations here and a general guide on how to set your in-game graphic settings when capturing different types of content here. Please follow the guides carefully; as animations which are not up to standard will not count towards the goal.

Getting there information[edit source]

Task: Add "Getting there" information to 50 location pages

Add a section about how to get to the location for 50 of the pages from this list (you can mark off any which you complete).

Some of these pages may already have this information but it may need to updated or standardised:

  • The information should be a section called "Getting there", this will normally be the first section on the page.
  • The section should contain bullet points of the most convenient travel options to reach the location.
  • Best options should be put first, but remember to also include low level and free to play alternatives if possible.
  • There should be no need for more than 5 options (at a maximum!) for most places.

Combat money making guides[edit source]

Task: Create any 5 combat money making guides from the following list.

This mainly consists of:

  1. figuring out the number of kills per hour
  2. determining relevant drops and drop rates (using RuneMetrics data -- join our Discord for more info)
  3. figuring out supplies costs
  4. writing a small strategy guide, or linking to an existing one

Drop logs and rates are ready to be used for this project.

See Money making guide/Killing muspah for an example of a good guide that incorporates all of the points above.

Update history[edit source]

Task: Add patch notes from 8 different updates to relevant pages.

One of our newest (and most ambitious) projects is to document information about how game updates have affected content over time. A group of editors is currently working through old patch notes and copying them on to pages of content that was affected by each patch. This information is organised chronologically in a new section called "Update history" which is being added to pages. You can help by doing this for the patch notes listed below. There is a project page which explains how to add in a new patch note here, as well as a dedicated #update-history channel on our Discord.

Here's some that we are prioritising from 2018:

You can find more on User:Tombomb/Update History. Please mark them off on both pages when you're done!

NPC dialogue[edit source]

Task: Transcribe 50 NPC dialogues onto the wiki.

There are quite a few occasions where we're missing dialogue for NPCs in RuneScape. Help us by creating transcript pages (see Transcript:Donie as an example) and adding the dialogue for an NPC. Our style guide on transcripts contains information on how to style these pages appropriately. You should not add quest-related dialogue for an NPC to their transcript page, this belongs on the quest's transcript instead. After the transcript has been created, remember to add a link to it on the corresponding NPCs page.

We strongly recommend using Alt1's "transcribe" feature, which quickly and easily transcribes dialogue by reading the text on your screen. You can then copy this onto the wiki and make minimal formatting changes.

This is a selection of 50 out of a total of 1295 non-player characters that are missing dialogue pages. For a new set, click here.

Rules[edit source]

  • You must have a wiki account and cannot be blocked. Anonymous edits will not count. You can sign up for a wiki account at Special:CreateAccount.
  • The reward for completion of each task will be one bond. If multiple editors contribute to a goal then the prize may be split between them.
  • If you are awarded a bond or a share of a bond, you can get in contact with one of the project runners on Discord, and claim it in-game.
  • This project is currently in a trial phase, so specific logistics and prizes may be subject to change.
