Thefreeman500[edit source]

I'm nominating Corn Squigly for ET membership. She has been a very active member of the clan and would make a good member of the events team. She is well versed in activities throughout the game and is well able to run a variety of events for the community. --LiquidTalk 03:42, April 20, 2014 (UTC)

I, Thefreeman500 (Corn Squigly), accept this Nomination -thefreeman500 3:49, April 20,2014 (UTC)

Discussion[edit source]

Support - I believe Corn would be an excellent addition to the Events Team. As a previous member I would have loved to work with her, she is professional, responsible and eager; all-around a great candidate for joining the team. Sly Fawkes (talk) 03:52, April 20, 2014 (UTC)

Strong support - She gets along with just about everyone. Also doesn't ban people (Fawkes/Oil) for being noobs. -- Recent uploads SpineTalkGuest book 04:11, April 20, 2014 (UTC)

Conditional Support - only if she bans Spine Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 19:02, April 20, 2014 (UTC)
Oil and I banned ourselves already nooby Spine, can't let someone else have all the fun.Sly Fawkes (talk) 04:20, April 21, 2014 (UTC)

Support - Per above. Corn will make a great member. -- Golden warpriest of Zamorak helm.png Wingcap Firemaking master cape.png 08:06, April 20, 2014 (UTC)

Yes please - Even though I choose to sit out on many events, this is one person whom I would love to see doing the organisation work for one. β (t&c)Oil4 I made this 08:36, April 20, 2014 (UTC)

Support - Corn is driven, knowledgeable, and smart. I think she'd be great on the team. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 19:02, April 20, 2014 (UTC)

Support - Corn has always been friendly and knows the game well. Plus I like corn logic. Narfblat (talk) 04:32, April 21, 2014 (UTC)

Support - Per Fawkes. -- Megadog14Talk 19:20, April 22, 2014 (UTC)

Neutral - Corn will probably be a capable ET member, but there are some issues with her being a player moderator that concern me. After her brother apparently gained access to her account (which is a problem itself) and said some things that got the account muted, she came onto [[Special:Chat]] and freaked out about possibly losing her "crown", as had previously happened to Astra, and acted kind of inappropriately throughout. It's the kind of thing that makes me worry about whether people just want these things so they can have a rank.

Another potential problem is that in the past, Corn has used her player moderator tools to attempt to exercise some authority over the clan chat. There have been a couple occasions where she was getting into an argument with Lash and wanted to mute him, which as far as I'm concerned is totally unacceptable, especially since she (as of right now) does not have a significant rank in the clan. She's also accidentally muted one other clan member, although I think that was just a miscommunication.

I just need to be sure that these kinds of issues won't pop up in future events, which can be stressful for whoever is running them. Having the event host mute or report people, or otherwise use their player moderator "status" to cause problems at events is not something I want to see happen at wiki events. Use restraint. ʞooɔ 00:42, April 23, 2014 (UTC)

"Corn has used her player moderator tools to attempt to exercise some authority over the clan chat." - Any specifics? While player moderator status doesn't mean someone automatically becomes a clan admin, there is overlap between the RSW and RuneScape rules. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 08:39, April 23, 2014 (UTC)
There might be overlaps, but using mutes, roughly equivalent to short blocks on the wiki, as a threat during an argument you're involved in isn't acceptable behaviour for anyone in a position of responsibility. I don't know what rules PMods are required to follow, but RS:A states neutrality is required in any actions you make. I don't think it's a stretch to expect that with ranks in the CC. cqm 20:30, 27 Apr 2014 (UTC) (UTC)
I can't say anything about the past, because I have no idea, but I spend too much time on RS and haven't personally witnessed this happening with Corn. That's not to dismiss any claims of this ever having happened, but I don't think it's much of a topical concern. Most often, I see Corn abstaining from the clan's more raunchy conversations (announcing publicly something along the lines of, "I think I should leave") or asking politely for it to stop like any other clanmate does. In fact, I can't remember a time recently where she was the only one who asked for something to stop. MolMan 01:12, April 25, 2014 (UTC)
Relevant chat logs (just search for the name). I don't know this person, but I was not at all impressed by their behavior in the on-site chat these two days. Maybe it was a one-off event, but I just wanted to throw it out there. sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 14:50, April 28, 2014 (UTC)
Ah, this person. Based on what I remember and my re-read through those logs, I think it would be a potentially very bad idea to have him (her?) on the event team. I can't see this ending well. Suppa chuppa Talk 15:05, April 28, 2014 (UTC)
The fact that you stated that said chat made you want to troll Ryan's page, and then claimed to have laughed out loud at Corn's fairly polite response to your insult makes me wonder whether you are being mature in your judgement. -- Megadog14Talk 19:53, April 28, 2014 (UTC)
If by judgment you mean being "not impressed"..? Alas, I am not the one applying for a position on the ET. sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 20:47, April 28, 2014 (UTC)
The only thing here that I would characterize as being immature would be Corn's reaction/attitude when entering the chat. Suppa chuppa Talk 21:32, April 28, 2014 (UTC)
Fergie's response comes across as quite reasonable given the circumstances (relative to other things said in chat at the time). Corn was doing nothing but fret constantly about how she may (quite rightly) have her player moderator status revoked. If she cares so much about her "silver crown" and views it as a status symbol, perhaps she deserves to lose it. It is no fault of the community's that Corn and Astra were reported for breaching the rules as RuneScape:Chat states quite clearly that all RuneScape rules must be followed when talking in the wiki's clan chat. Liquidhelium's response about ousting a "tattletale" was similarly disappointing: it is not against the Rules of RuneScape to report other players from breaching the rules, regardless of one's view on how warranted/unwarranted any action taken by Jagex is, and it inappropriate to attempt to find out who reported certain users for violating the rules (names are starred out in mute evidence for a reason). In fact, it strikes me that one of the few mature things said in Special:Chat at the time was what Cook said at 07:25, about how Jagex often make errors of judgement when granting player moderatorship to players. One can only hope that the system of allowing existing pmods to "recommend" other players to Jagex will be terminated shortly. The only player moderators who I have known for over five years, all of whom I consider to be quite mature, agree that the system is of little use and has produced other "rotten apples" over the years. "One can only hope that the system of allowing existing players to "recommend" to Jagex that other players be made pmods." - I think you accidentally half a sentence Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 18:21, April 29, 2014 (UTC)
Could you please clarify your position on allowing Corn onto the ET? This seems more like a criticism of Pmods in general. -- Megadog14Talk 19:30, May 2, 2014 (UTC)
Oppose - Per my above comment. Temujin 09:25, May 3, 2014 (UTC)

Comment - I'd like to see Corn's reaction to the above allegations/remarks if possible. The negative responses to the proposal seem to largely be by those who have had little to no interaction with Corn with the exception of Cook and possibly Suppa. Those who have interacted with Corn ingame appear to have a different view suggesting the events in chat aren't a reflection on her normal behaviour. cqm 23:52, 5 May 2014 (UTC) (UTC)

Support - Absolutely. 100 %. All I see on those chat logs is someone who made a mistake, was upset by it, and worried about the consequences.  As for muting in clan chat, we're all human.  We all screw up or have lapses in judgement from time to time.  In Corn's case, my experience has been that those occassions are the exception and not the norm, and I'm confident she'll learn from the experience and improve.  Given that I have known her to be responsible and level-headed 99% of the time, eager, actively involved in game and diplomatic, I think she'd make a fantastic addition to the Events Team.--Farming-icon.png Ms ZuZu Talk Quest icon fixed.png 05:36, May 12, 2014 (UTC)
