Overview[edit source]

The Kalphite King is regarded by Jagex to be one of the toughest bosses in RuneScape. However, with a sufficiently large team, we'll be able to take it on!

Getting there[edit source]

The King is located in the Exiled Kalphite Hive, in the extreme south of the Kharadian Desert. This can be accessed rather easily by taking a flying carpet to Menaphos and running east, or by simply

teleporting to the Jaldraocht Pyramid with a Pharaoh's sceptre and running south. Once the player has arrived at the Hive, they will take a relatively simple path to the entrance to the King's lair, as shown by the map. Also, the Bandit camp lodestone takes you directly north of the Exiled Kalphite Hive, and is the recommended way to get to the Kalphite King.

Attacks[edit source]

The King has a wide variety of attacks, which are listed here. To see a full and comprehensive list of attacks and their effects, see this page. PLEASE NOTE that the Kalphite King, like it's Queen counterpart, has phases. These phases, signified by its wings turning Orange, Green, and Blue, alert the user that the King is weak to Magic, Melee, and Ranged, respectively. When in one of these phases, users should use attacks appropriate to the King's current weakness.

  • Standard Attack: Melee attack with a bleed effect, possibly one of his most dangerous attacks.
  • Charge: Melee attack; the King rushes forward and knocks players into the wall. typically does above 2000 damage.
  • Stomp: Melee attack; players within melee distance will be damaged and knocked back.
  • Standard Attack: Ranged attack that has an effect similar to Fragmentation Shot; does damage over time.
  • Stun Darts : Ranged attack; King fires darts that have a chance of stunning players.
  • Incendiary Shot: Ranged attack; King fires a dart with an effect extremely similar to the Incendiary Shot ability. After a few seconds, it deals damage up to 5000.
  • Blue Energy Circles Attack: A Magic attack where the King shoots numerous blue circles, which burst and deal upwards of 3000 damage. Players can avoid these, as they target an area of the ground and not a specific player.
  • Green Energy Circles Attack: Magic attack that is very similar to the Blue Circles attack, but that does more damage, and to multiple players.
  • Instakill: One of the most dangerous attacks, but it can be fully blocked, and used to your advantage. Before the instakill, the kalphite king will start glowing, and he will shoot a green blob at his target. As soon as you see this, use provoke and resonance and instead of instakilling his target, he will fully heal you.

Equipment[edit source]

Note: Void Knight equipment is also an alternative for every style.

Magic Equipment[edit source]

In general: Virtus > Subjugation > Ganodermic > Ahrim's

Magic is the suggested setup for the Kalphite King. Unless you tribrid with magic/melee/range according to weakness, or have Drygore weapons.

Melee Equipment[edit source]

In general: Torva > BandosBarrows (melee)

When using drygore, melee is the best setup of all.

Range Equipment[edit source]

In general: Pernix > Armadyl > Karil's > Royal d'hide
