WARNING: Only bring items you are willing to lose as you will not receive a gravestone upon death, giving you 3.5 minutes to return and collect your items.
You will only keep your three (four if you have the protect item prayer activated) most expensive items on death. Unless you can return within that 3.5 minutes, your items will appear on the ground and any player can pick them up. Please bear this in mind when gearing up for the fight.

The fight[edit source]

A general guide can be found here.

The general points to remember about this fight are as follows (especially relevant if this is your first time at the Beast):

Corporeal Beast.png
  • Everyone faces a significant risk of death while fighting the Beast - even maxed players with good gear can be taken down very quickly if they don't pay attention. If you're not confident, favour the cheaper items in the suggested equipment sets below.
  • Following on from the above, don't be discouraged if you rapidly use up all your food. Thanks to the updated Games necklace teleports, players can feasibly bank, refill on potions and be back in the Beast chamber in under 60 seconds.
  • The Beast is most dangerous with Magic, so you will want to wear armour with high magic defence. Karil's is ideal, but dragonhide is also good. Don't be tempted by Armadyl armour - your accuracy matters a lot if you're going to do any real damage to the Beast. He is a level 785 for a reason.
  • The Beast takes half damage from any weapon that isn't a spear on the stab setting. This makes the Zamorakian spear the ideal choice, unless you want to splash out on Vesta. Any other weapon you wish to bring must be a spear on the stab setting - Chaotic weapons will not work.
  • The Beast randomly switches targets throughout the fight, so you cannot afford to let your concentration slip. The salient points arising from this:
    • Depending on the timing of the target switch, the Beast can often attack you before it has finished turning to face you. Look for the projectiles rather than the direction he's facing.
    • Sometimes, the Beast will latch on to one player and attack it repeatedly for what seems like quite a long time (5-6 attacks). It's important not to panic when this happens to you. See below for how to survive his attacks.
  • The Beast can randomly devour a familiar at any point throughout the fight. Depending on the size of teams, this may make healing familiars such as unicorns inadvisable (in a larger team, they may work well enough to justify bringing one).

Surviving attacks

As noted above the Beast is most dangerous with its Magic attacks, so the first step to staying safe is to have high Magic defence. The Magic attacks can also hit through your prayer, but damage will be lessened. The Beast's other attack, a melee attack hitting up to 513, is less common and somewhat less accurate. Therefore, it makes sense to favour Protect from/Deflect Magic at all times.

If the Beast is currently attacking you, it's important to stay focused and not panic. If you're not confident about your ability to take its hits, step one space back, disabling his melee attack and giving you less to think about. Stepping back is also a good way to gain some space to heal after taking a strong hit.

Remember that it is now exceptionally easy to bank and return. Don't be afraid to use food liberally - better to have to bank & return than to die & return.

Death and Returning[edit source]

If you die, which can easily occur if you lose concentration or if you get a few unlucky hits, you will respawn in your regular spot like normal. You will not, however, have a grave. Everything except your top three items will be dropped on the floor where you died. This will remain hidden for exactly 3.5 minutes. After that time, anyone will be able to see and pick up your items. There is no way to stop other players picking up your items after this time. The Beast is meant to be a dangerous fight - high risk, high reward. Please bear this in mind when equipping your character for battle.

However, due to changes made by Jagex it is now fairly easy to return in under 3.5 minutes. You can now teleport directly to the Beast's lair with the games necklace. Once you are there you need to pick up as many items as you can and teleport straight out, preferably with a one-click teleport.

When returning, it is recommended you wear a dragonhide leather body and chaps to maximize your magic damage soak and bring half an inventory of high-healing food like sharks.

Drops[edit source]

The Corporeal beast is one of the toughest, but most rewarding monsters in the game to kill. It has four unique drops, the sigils as well as a multitude of other expensive drops. Below are the prices and rarity of some of them.

The rest of his drops can be found here.

Recommended setup[edit source]

Melee[edit source]

Items that are at the end can be considered "welfare gear", and should be considered by newcomers. Items at the beginning should be used by people who have been to the Beast before and know what to do

Recommended inventory[edit source]

  • Games necklace to teleport straight there and bypass the wilderness
  • Special attack weapon (Darklight/Bandos Godsword/Dragon Halberd/None)
  • Super set (melee) or Ranged potions (ranged)
  • One-click teleport (Preferably a House teleport tab for a safe death if you are hit mid-teleport and for an altar/obelisk to recharge)
  • Runes to cast Vengeance, Vengeance other, or Vengeance Group if you have 93-95 magic
  • Rest of the inventory should be high-healing food (Shark as a minimum). The better food you take, the longer you can stay without banking which means less chance of missing a drop
