5-x (RSN: 5-x)

Rank requested: Administrator

Hello. A few days ago I've temporarily quit the RSW Clan, which was related the recent Clan Chat ruckus. As a result of my absence, my administrator rank has been automatically removed. I've since rejoined the Clan.

I view this situation as a very good opportunity to be re-evaluated by the community. The idea of undergoing a second RfCCA has also been suggested by Gaz Lloyd and Cook Me Plox. I'd like to thank them for their ideas, advice, and encouragement.

It's been an eventful year in the Clan, 6 months of which I've been an administrator. I'm sure I've changed, and so has our community. Many of you that visit the Clan Chat got to know me well, for I am in the chat almost every day. I wish to remain an administrator, but in order for that I need the community trust, hence this RfCCA. My aim is to remain active and continue to affect our community in a positive way. 5-x Talk 23:21, December 24, 2014 (UTC)

I, 5-x, accept this nomination for a rank in the Clan Chat RSW. I have read the clan chat rules and the rank guide pertaining to my desired rank. I understand that this nomination may fail. If I do get community consensus, I promise not to abuse my tools because I am aware that this is a serious transgression. If the community finds that I have done so, I understand that my rank will be revoked, and that in extreme cases I could be given a community ban. Signed, 5-x Talk 23:21, December 24, 2014 (UTC)

Not now - You only just left and rejoined the clan, and there is currently too much ruckus going on. I'd way wait a bit and try again. Support - I don't understand why you were deranked in the first place. You left because of others' behaviour. Admins that leave the CC are free to come back and ask for their rank again. I see no problems with your conduct as admin; I think you've learned from the small mistakes you've made in the past (none of which were remotely derank worthy, I might add for clarification) and won't repeat them. Furthermore, I think this RfR is completely seperate from the current YG thread about the clan, so I don't see how it would affect this. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 23:28, December 24, 2014 (UTC)

Support - 5-x simply left because of all the drama going on. He has very little relevance with the ongoing drama in Forum:Reforming the Clan Chat, thus there is no reason for anyone to think that he is untrustworthy right now. He should be an admin right now because of RS:RANKED, but if Gaz and others wish for 5-x to be re-evaluated by the community, then let it be. Comment - I would rather this wait until the thread is finished. svco4bY.png3Gf5N2F.png 23:35, December 24, 2014 (UTC)

Why? This seems like a straightforward RFR, with no potential for drama. Zaros symbol.png Bluefire2 (Talk | Edit meZaros symbol.pngOil4 I made this 23:38, December 24, 2014 (UTC)
I'd tend to agree. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 00:21, December 25, 2014 (UTC)
Why? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 00:29, December 25, 2014 (UTC)
Because the thread hasn't closed yet and the process for re-obtaining rank hasn't been decided, only proposed. I too would like to see this closed until the thread is decided, otherwise I will have to oppose. Christine 06:35, December 25, 2014 (UTC)
I would have made a second RfCCA regardless of the outcome, for reasons I stated above. Please also note that I am nowhere in the focus of the other thread. I see no problem with running my request as long as necessary for all interested parties to comment. 5-x Talk 10:22, December 25, 2014 (UTC)
5-x lost his rank not because of the thread, but because he left the clan and returned. I've seen no reason for him to be deranked, so I don't know why this RfR is necessary, and I certainly don't know why stalling it is necessary. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 11:14, December 25, 2014 (UTC)

Neutral - I realize that your behaviour wasn't the reason either for your leaving the clan or for the current YG thread. But it still seems wonky to initiate this process prior to anything having been decided over there. And I am troubled by the fact that you allowed the negative behaviour of others to drive you off. As an admin, my expectation would have been for you to take some sort of action to put an end to that behaviour. Maybe you did and it wasn't successful and I just don't know about it. Either way, if you do regain your rank, how can we be assured that you are committed to your role, and won't leave again the next time things become difficult? --Farming-icon.png Ms ZuZu Talk Quest icon fixed.png 09:07, December 26, 2014 (UTC)

I have indeed taken action to stop the negative behaviour in the chat, but it was successful only short-term. Leaving the clan was intended as an exception - I don't intend to leave the clan ever again. I hoped it would highlight the ongoing problems and aid in stopping them. Perhaps it was a bit too radical, but it seems to me things started going in the right direction indeed. 5-x Talk 11:06, December 26, 2014 (UTC)
That is reassuring. Thank you for clarifying. --Farming-icon.png Ms ZuZu Talk Quest icon fixed.png 21:07, December 26, 2014 (UTC)
ZuZu, not everyone can maintain a thick hide 100% of the time, the timing of the 'bullying' as demonstrated in the YG thread in relation to Christmas is particularly cruel as more people are more likely to have other external pressures and leaving the clan/rage-quitting can be seen as the easy relief. --RSDaftVader (talk) 11:50, December 26, 2014 (UTC)
Adding to this: there is a difference between having a thick hide, and dealing with targeted hatred. I'd like to note to Daft though that what he says about Christmas isn't true - the real problems with (that is to say, against) 5-x happened earlier than that, the last weeks it has been "just" name-calling and generally being a dick to him. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 17:15, December 26, 2014 (UTC)

Support - I must admit I didn't think much of 5-x when I started guesting in the clan again, but I certainly warmed up, and would sooner see him remain a member of the Clan Administration than not. --RSDaftVader (talk) 11:50, December 26, 2014 (UTC)

Oppose - Hoarding the avatar, being a dick when asked to stop by multiple people, causing conflict within the cc and never mediated conflict. Sly Fawkes (talk) 21:31, December 28, 2014 (UTC)

I disagree with you saying that 5-x never mediated conflict in the cc - I have seen him do so before. If you have never seen him do so, I would say that this was perhaps because we have had little conflict in the cc to mediate (apart from that which other admins had been involved in/instigated, which other admins including 5-x may have been reluctant to get involved in mediating). With the other things that you think 5-x did I'd like some more clarification. What conflict did 5-x cause? What makes you say that 5-x hoarded the avatar? And by who/how was he asked to stop and what did he do that was being a dick? Magic logs detail.pngIsobelJTalk page 22:21, December 28, 2014 (UTC)
I'd like to note that there is quite often conflict in the cc that needs to be mediated, not just "that which other admins had been involved in/instigated". Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 22:34, December 28, 2014 (UTC)
there is often conflict in the cc that goes unmediated (that whole thread is about conflict). He started conflict by being elitist and the whole avatar thing. He was also asked many times by many people to stop bringing the avatar to w32 and in one instance he hopped to w39 with the avatar saying "the avatar is now on w39" only to dismiss it seconds later saying "now it is not", this act also got his warden removed.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sly Fawkes (talk) on 00:28, December 29, 2014 (UTC).
Relevant. Christine 01:28, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
Wasn't the avatar warden job being taken away in itself a punishment for this? I'm sure 5-x is smart and decent enough not to do something like that again. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 01:44, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
Okay I can see there is one incident here where 5-x brought the avatar to w39 and then dismissed it abruptly. I don't remember any other times where he was asked to not have the avatar on w32 - was that through pm? Also what give you the impression that 5-x was being elitist? Magic logs detail.pngIsobelJTalk page 08:00, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
There were many times that 5-x was told to not have the avatar on w32, mostly in the clan chat. Sly Fawkes (talk) 21:52, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
I seem to have missed any times that 5-x was asked to not have the avatar on w32. Would you mind filling me in on what 5-x was asked and by who? Also as far as I know, our policies on the avatar allow wardens to have the avatar out on non-homeworlds (though homeworld are preferred and then become prioritised if all the avatars are out on non-homeworlds). It seems like 5-x was not breaking any rules of the clan by having the avatar on w32, so why was he being "told" to stop doing so? Is there something else here I am missing? Magic logs detail.pngIsobelJTalk page 18:33, December 30, 2014 (UTC)
There was one incident where 5-x had the avatar out on world 32, but was not in the clan chat so nobody knew about this. That is of course unacceptable behaviour - clan avatars are a clan asset and if they're not on the homeworld, you need to at least be in the chat to say where it is. However, such a big fuss was made about this that I doubt it'll happen again. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 19:17, December 30, 2014 (UTC)

Neutral - I feel, like most people here, that 5-x created this request too soon. However, I have no problem with him being made an admin again if the community decides that is right. I oppose warden though, at least requiring some sort of probation period before that gets reinstated. However, as I was semi-involved in the issue, I don't feel it's my place to throw out a time frame. Christine 04:10, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

Comment - Since alot of the comments here have touched on 5-x and the avatar I think its relevant to provide some context to the incident that lead to 5-x losing his warden rights and this thread. As Oil and DaftVader have mentioned, before this happened 5-x was the target of what can only be described as bullying from other members of the clan for at least several weeks. I use the word bullying to describe negative comments being made about 5-x while he was in the clan chat and while he was absent from chat; as well as actions such as the creation of User:Oilsmom to troll 5-x on the wiki. I never witnessed 5-x doing anything inappropriate in these situations - he usually responded by either ignoring the comments or by trying to laugh them off. I'm not saying that we should ignore this specific incident that people are concerned about. I just want whoever closes this to be aware that this incident didn't suddenly come from nowhere and potentially it could have been prevented if the earlier bullying was dealt with differently. Magic logs detail.pngIsobelJTalk page 17:16, January 6, 2015 (UTC)

This is not exactly true. 5-x did do wrongs - having the avatar on a non-homeworld while not even being in the clan chat, being at one point very rude when asked about this. That kind of behaviour can't fly. However, as I said, I think he's learnt from this mistake. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 02:25, January 7, 2015 (UTC)

Closed - There is no consensus in this discussion to give 5-x the administrator rank in the clan. --LiquidTalk 05:37, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
