Penguin Locations Gadget[edit source]

... is broken. Highlighting doesn't work. Reset is today. Please fix asap. I suggest just reverting the code. --Saftzie (talk) 00:17, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Somebody deleted the CSS class that it shares with highlight table. --Saftzie (talk) 00:47, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
This should be fixed now. We changed the highlightTable CSS to only load on pages with table.lighttable, but this didn't catch #pengLocations. Can we move the penguin locations to use the standard lighttable, and make the gadget only deal with the toggling? Are there any downsides to this? ʞooɔ 07:35, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
"Clear highlighted rows" is an ugly long button label. (FWIW, highlightTable is - or has been - a derivative of pengLocations.) I think only one special load instead of two would be preferable. --Saftzie (talk) 03:48, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

MediaWiki:External image whitelist[edit source]

Add some CSS to fix ironman requirements on Achievement pages[edit source]

Hi :) I'm requesting the following 2 rules be added to Common.css, please.

table .im-task-reqs {

This new class "im-task-reqs" would be passed into Template:Ironmanreqs section's "class" parameter on achievement-related pages for a cleaner look. Following image shows the rules in action. Left without the rules, right with. uLHIWev.png

Modification to lighttables for basic rowspan support[edit source]

I've set up a demo page (see link above) that showcases proposed changes to highlightTable-core.js (a.k.a. "lighttables"). These changes would add some basic (read: non-nested) rowspan support to both the hover/click highlight effects of lighttables. As noted on my userpage, the best example would be Yak Track Tasks table.

The UI change I went with was to highlight all rows in a rowspan when any row in the span is hovered/clicked. Some alternatives would be:

  1. Break out the rowspan cells and only highlight the active row + those rowspan cells. In the context of the demo, that would mean the "Tier" cell would always be highlighted, but for the remaining columns only the row under the cursor would get highlighted. This proposes a bit more complexity in the local storage aspect (though I suspect it would be easy to overcome by not using the "rows" mode and storing each cell's highlight state individually).
  2. No change; the OCD in some of us will watch the "Tier" column bounce from highlights/no highlights for span'd rows and cry internally but otherwise survive.

Dark mode CSS for comboboxes[edit source]

MediaWiki:Gadget-calc-core.js grammar mistake[edit source]

Line 936 and line 1044: param.error = 'Not a valid selction'; This should be: param.error = 'Not a valid selection';

Another bug I've found: If param1 opens param2, which opens param3, then changing param1 doesn't close param3. Eldevidian (talk) 19:58, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Fixed the grammar. As far as the nested toggles, that's intrinsic to the way I handled them, not sure there's an easy way to do that without a total rewrite of the toggling system. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 20:43, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Special:Editcount[edit source]

transcluding Special:Editcount like {{Special:Editcount/Nericat}} returns the wrong value. Template:Editcounts uses this to make a table but it's noticably wrong (at time of writing it says I have 1433 edits despite my main + file edits totalling 1448). I could fix the template by adding all the separate editcounts together, but that seems suboptimal. a better fix would be appreciated. Nericat (talk) 03:17, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Tagging @JaydenKieran and @TehKittyCat as I believe this will be something requiring sysadmin attention. At time of writing, {{Special:Editcount/Cqm}} returns 2632 which is not my mainspace edit count or any obvious combination of edits across other namespaces. Could one of you take a peek to see where the number are coming from? cqm talk 21:17, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
Quoting from answer in Discord:

The various editcounts aren't wrong, just computed in different ways. The internal editcount exists as a metric for account usage (in abuse filters, and setting autoconfirmed), so it makes sense for it to be shared across wikis, which is shown on Special:Preferences, and never decreases (deleting revisions/pages doesn't decrement). {{Special:Editcount}} uses the value from Special:Preferences if a namespace isn't given. Whereas if a namespace is given to {{Special:Editcount}} or if on Special:Editcount, only non-deleted revisions are included and unlike the internal editcount, moves are counted twice (source and destination). The fork does have some impact if comparing to Wikia's value, because edit count had to be populated for existing accounts, so only non-deleted revisions at the time of fork counted for the initial edit count, whereas Wikia's included deleted revisions and revisions for Wikia-only namespaces we deleted.

"Vulgar" trivia, worth adding?[edit source]

I just attempted to add this piece of trivia to the Great Pecker page, and it was flagged for vandalism:

"* The name is perhaps an innuendo, as "pecker" can also mean p*nis."

I personally think this is noteworthy, but I admit it's not necessary. I also think it's likely, in light of other innuendos we have from Jagex, e.g. "very good baiter," an obvious reference to the classic "master baiter" pun. Armadyl the GoodAnastasious, Feal to Armadyl (Talk)Armadyl the True 23:43, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Fix switchfo boxes breaking Doogle maps[edit source]

Currently, the interactive maps become broken if you switch any switchfo box. Apparently, the leafletjs code isn't intended to gracefully support having its DOM container being ripped out from under it. However, there's a simple solution: Tell the Kartographer code to re-initialise all kartographer map frames on the page via emitting a wikipage.content event.

One efficient way to do this would be to modify MediaWiki:Gadget-switch-infobox.js's init() function to register a post-switch callback if a Kartographer map is detected at page load. In others, replace line 608 with the following:

		// reinitialize any kartographer map frames added due to a switch
		if ($('.infobox-switch .mw-kartographer-map').length
		 || $('.switch-infobox .mw-kartographer-map').length
		 || $('.rsw-synced-switch .mw-karographer-map').length) {
			window.switchEventManager.addPostSwitchEvent(function() {

MrDew (talk) 07:44, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Edited code snippet to target the entire article contents in the event after realizing the Kartographer extension tears down all maps on the page and then only rebuilds the ones targeted by the event. MrDew (talk) 08:29, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Ele won't offset her top[edit source]

For those (oh so many) of us who have the "Sticky header" feature enabled in MediaWiki:Gadget-skinTogglesNew.js and use the API page to test API queries, the JS console gets spammed with errors whenever you scroll the page. This is caused by the gadget assuming targetEle found the head nav link container and trying to read its offsetTop during every scroll event. The API preview pages have no such element, hence the spam.

Could someone modify the gadget to correct this? One potential solution with minimal change would be to find this:

					  	var targetEle = document.getElementById("mw-head");

and after it add this:

					  	if (!targetEle) {
