Ripper Demons are Slayer monsters that can be found in a cave under the Abbey of St. Elspeth Citharede and in the Wilderness, scattered mostly across level 40+ Wilderness. They require level 96 Slayer to be killed. They are Chthonian demons and are affected by Silverlight and Darklight, as well as the Demon Slayer perk. When killing Ripper Demons, an elite version called Slasher Demon may spawn (guaranteed while on a Slayer assignment), which can be further increased with the use of fellstalk incense sticks and tier 3 luck.

The appearance of Ripper Demons in the Abbey is explained through a series of journals left behind by a miner prior to their conversion into a Ripper Demon. These lore books are required for the master quest cape.

During the You Are It quest, the double agent took the form of a ripper demon wearing his hat and surrounded the player with other ripper demons in Duke Horacio's room in Lumbridge Castle.

Main drop[edit | edit source]

Tertiary drops[edit | edit source]

  1. ^ Only drops during Slayer tasks.[1]
  2. ^ a b c d e f These are dropped in numerical order with the diary being the final journal; each journal must be read to receive the next one. The base rate is 1/100.[2] Having a Lorehound summoned with the Lore Helper perk increases the drop rate. There is a 100% drop rate for each when the player reaches 200, 400, 600, 800, 1,000 and 1,200 kills respectively.
  3. ^ a b 1/2,000 chance during a Slayer task; 1/10,000 chance otherwise.[3]
  4. ^ Only dropped during a Slayer task given by the Raptor.

Rare drop table[edit | edit source]

This monster has access to the rare drop table.
Luck-enhancing items are not required to access the table, but they will increase the chance of accessing the rare drop table and may also improve the loot received from it.

Mod Timbo: "1/1280 if you hit the RDT, requires T4 luck to be worn in order to get a hold of it. Of course there are tons of different ways to access the RDT so it changes massively depending on what you're fighting, what you're wearing etc."
  3. ^ Vecna skull requires tier 4 luck. Chance is 1/1,280 per roll of the rare drop table with the tier 4 luck requirement.[d 2]
  4. ^ Cheese+tom batta indicates a roll for Hazelmere's signet ring without tier 4 luck.
  5. ^ Blurberry Special indicates a failed 1/10 roll for Hazelmere's signet ring with tier 4 luck.
  6. ^ Hazelmere's signet ring requires tier 4 luck. Rarer than the Vecna skull.

Wilderness drop table[edit | edit source]

This monster has access to the Wilderness shared loot table, which is a tertiary drop. To access the table, it has to be killed inside the Wilderness.
Luck-enhancing items are not required to access the table, but do increase the chance of doing so, as does doing higher-level content.

Universal drops[edit | edit source]

Universal drops are dropped by nearly every monster and skilling action outside of Daemonheim.
These items are dropped alongside main drops.

Update history[edit | edit source]

This information has been compiled as part of the update history project. Some updates may not be included—see here for how to help out!
  • ninja 13 March 2023 (Update):
    • Ripper Demons in the wilderness will now correctly use their special attack and now engage in combat as normal - before this, they would not use their unique attack mechanic if they attacked the player first.
  • patch 4 May 2020 (Update):
    • Coal stone spirits have been replaced by phasmatite and necrite stone spirits.
  • patch 20 May 2019 (Update):.
    • Reduced the frequency of Ripper Demons special attack slightly.
  • patch 18 February 2019 (Update):
    • The Ripper demon jumping mechanic will now consistently fire when they reach maximum adrenaline.
  • patch 6 March 2017 (Update):
    • We have added bad luck mitigation to some lore drops so that cumulative monster kills shift the drop rate towards 100% once a certain threshold has been reached. This affects drops which have a drop rate of 1/100 (or worse). The affected drops from Ripper Demons are the Miner's journals and The Diary of Jebediah Omnis.
  • ninja 28 November 2016 (Update):
    • Ripper demon changes:
      • Damage from the death spin can now be blocked by prayers and abilities.
      • Ripper demons now become aggressive at 35% life points instead of 50%.
      • The ripper demon death jump now takes longer to charge up.
      • Players will no longer be attacked instantly upon entering the ripper demon cave.
      • The Ripper demon drop table has been substantially buffed.
    • Weapon drops from wyverns, ripper demons, camel warriors and Acheron mammoths now have a greater chance of being dropped during a Slayer assignment.
  • ninja 14 December 2015 (Update):
    • Added quick chat options for declaring celestial dragon, wyvern, ripper demon, camel warrior and Acheron mammoth kills.
  • patch 7 December 2015 (Update):
    • The Slayer XP of ripper demons was increased by between 50-200%.
  • patch 9 November 2015 (Update):
    • Post-update fixes:
      • Elite Living Wyverns and Elite Ripper Demons will no longer occasionally respawn after they die.
      • Ripper Demons will now consistently be able to use their pounce attack.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • There is a glitch where after using their special attack, if the player has a non-combatant familiar, they will get a message the familiar only attacks in self-defence, even if the player did not order the familiar to attack the demon.
  • Using the Oldak coil as well as the best weapons/armour/potions/etc. while running in a circle, players can earn up to 1,130,000 Slayer experience per hour at Ripper Demons.
  • As of 1 February 2018, the highest kill count for these monsters was 13,763 kills.[5]
    • This had increased to 13,840 by 6 May 2018.[6]
  • They are the only Raptor mob that are unaffected by stuns.
  • If the demon engages in combat without the adrenaline bar, the instant-kill mechanic and slaughter ability are disabled. The demon will also walk towards the target rather than teleporting to them.
