The ring of charos is an item found after Creature of Fenkenstrain by pickpocketing Dr Fenkenstrain. Wearing it can deceive werewolves such as the inhabitants of Canifis or the guardian outside the Werewolf agility course into thinking the player is also a werewolf. The ring was once owned by a human named Charos, whose gift of speech allowed him to bend the wills of the weak-minded. He was aided by his magical ring. It was given to Lady Rolobrae and later stolen by Dr Fenkenstrain.
If lost, one can pickpocket Dr Fenkenstrain to get another. He is located in the top middle tower in the castle in the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest. The player should note that after The Great Brain Robbery, he moves to the basement of the granary on Harmony Island. It can also be re-obtained at May's Quest Caravan after putting 150 quest points into the Hub Track. The ring cannot be reclaimed from a gravestone.
The ring can be activated at the start of the Garden of Tranquillity quest, after completing the Wise Old Man's quiz on persuasion, becoming a ring of charos (a). The activated ring's persuasive abilities are used in several quests, including Do No Evil and While Guthix Sleeps. After being activated, the ring will stay activated even when lost.
The ring can be imbued as a reward from the Soul Wars minigame to turn it into a ring of charos(a)(i), giving it defence bonuses.
Wearing it when purchasing a cape of accomplishment through the dialogue options makes the cape cost 92,000 coins instead of 99,000 coins. This does not apply to Elen Anterth, since she does not have dialogue options to purchase capes of accomplishment. This also doesn't work when buying the quest point cape from the Wise Old Man, though it does result in additional dialogue.
