Redbeard Frank is a pirate bosun currently docked in the Asgarnian port-town of Port Sarim or at the end of the most north-eastern pier in Port Sarim. Redbeard was once the first-mate of One-Eyed Hector, a famous pirate general present at the Battle of the Archipelago. Since then, he has risen to the rank of captain, and has gained an insatiable thirst for Karamjan rum.

Frank is the starting point of the Pirate's Treasure quest, and also plays a large role in the Rocking Out quest. If asked to trade, he'll comment that "Customs is on the warpath."

He will also start the easy Falador achievements.

History[edit | edit source]

Frank was present at the Battle of the Archipelago, during which the pirates of Mos Le'Harmless, under Gentleman Mallard, attempted to defeat the infamous Rabid Jack. Redbeard played a relatively minor role in the battle, although he did prove a great asset to his captain, Hector.

Despite defeating Rabid Jack, Customs continued their war against the pirates. They attacked Hector's ship, killing him and numerous other crewmen in the process; Hector was one of the few able to escape. He was promoted to captain, and he also began enjoying alcohol, especially Karamjan rum. He had an incident while in the Blue Moon Inn, which caused him to be banned from the premises. Although a pirate captain, his ship and crew have yet to be seen.

A Little Drink[edit | edit source]

The following takes place during Pirate's Treasure.

Redbeard Frank encountered an adventurer while stationed in Port Sarim. The adventurer was eager to obtain some treasure, and Redbeard Frank told them that he knew of some treasure (belonging to his captain), though he requested they bring him some Karamjan rum. Due to Customs clamping down on the exports of spirits, he told them that they would need to smuggle it off the island, and believed that they were resourceful enough to do so.

The adventurer managed to smuggle some rum off the island by working at Luthas' plantation and then Wydin's grocery store, as Luthas shipped his bananas to Wydin. Upon being given the rum, Redbeard Frank told them a bit about his past, and gave them a key leading to his captain's room in the Blue Moon Inn. Upon obtaining the treasure, the adventurer offered to share it with him, though he politely declined, stating that Hector would've wanted them to keep it.

Getting a Mark[edit | edit source]

The following takes place during Rocking Out.

The adventurer, wishing to know why the pirates feared Rabid Jack, was informed by Bill Teach that they would need to visit Young Ralph at the Rock Island Prison. Upon meeting with Ralph, he requested the marks of the five captains, one of those being One-Eyed Hector. The adventurer told Ralph that Hector had died, so Ralph asked if Frank was still alive. The adventurer confirmed Frank's survival, so Ralph stated that he would accept Frank's mark in his place, as he knew him well.

They returned to Frank and asked him about Rabid Jack. Frank was surprised that they knew of Jack, and stated that the day was inevitable as Hector had told him about it. He was suspicious of Jack's return however, and requested that they obtain proof before he would give his mark. The adventurer visited Brother Tranquility, who wrote a letter regarding the attack on their monastery; however, as he could not lie, the letter simply stated that he had heard of his name. Frank was not convinced with the letter, so the adventurer decided to visit Captain Donnie instead. Captain Donnie had "accidentally" written the plans onto 50% Luke's leg, so the adventurer pretended "accidentally" slip onto Luke and obtain a copy of the plans before bringing it to Frank. Frank read the plan, and alarmed, gave the adventurer his mark and wished them luck.

Talk like a Pirate day[edit | edit source]

In 19 September 2009, known as the International Talk Like a Pirate Day, when a player talked to Redbeard Frank while having a piracy book, Redbeard Frank sang.

Historical song[edit | edit source]

In the past, Redbeard Frank used to sing a song, which can be seen below:

Three dead beasts on the Barrows chest!
Yo ho ho and some Karamjan rum!
The Wise Old Man has done for the rest!
Yo ho ho and some Karamjan rum!
The Beast was fixed on an elven pike,
The Queen brained by a Verac Flail spike,
And TokTz-Jad's throat was marked belike,
By the Karil's crossbow it had been speared,
And they lay there dead, no longer feared,
Slain by an old man with white a snow-white beard!
Yo ho ho and some Karamjan rum!
Three great beasts of dread, renown and fear!
Yo ho ho and some Karamjan rum!
Dead, and Runescape shall not shed one tear!
Yo ho ho and some Karamjan rum!
