FAQ • doc |
A raw swordfish is a type of fish that players can catch with at least level 50 Fishing, or 70 Fishing and 50 Strength barehanded, granting 100 Fishing experience per catch with an additional 8 Strength experience per barehanded swordfish. With at least level 45 Cooking, a raw swordfish can be cooked to gain 140 Cooking experience on a range and 154 over a bonfire. Raw swordfish stop being burnt at level 86 cooking, or at level 80 cooking with cooking gauntlets.
Swordfish are caught by using a harpoon at a cage/harpoon fishing spot. Players will catch a mixture of raw swordfish and raw tuna. Of 4500 fish caught at 99 Fishing 2172 were swordfish, giving an average swordfish catch rate of 48.27%. Out of 2272 fish caught from 50 to 60 Fishing, 1009 were swordfish (44.41%), indicating a small increase of swordfish catch rate at high levels. After completion of Barbarian training, Players between 35-50 strength will only catch tuna unless a setting is changed to disable barehanded fishing, as players will not have the required strength level to catch swordfish
With at least 50 Agility two swordfish can be caught at once, although experience is only gained for a single one. Swordfish gloves, obtainable through the Fist of Guthix minigame, can be used to gain additional experience while fishing swordfish. Members may receive a big swordfish while fishing. These can be hung up in a Skill Hall in player-owned houses by those with level 56 Construction.
After completion of the Tower of Life quest, members can create a swordchick by using a raw swordfish and a raw chicken on the appropriate altar.
