Recolouring[edit | edit source]

For 4000 loyalty points, players can buy the ability to change the colour of their ranger boots. History[edit | edit source]

On release, ranger boots were the only footwear that provided a bonus to the ranged attack stat, and remained the highest in this stat by a significant margin even after the introduction of cheaper alternatives such as snakeskin boots. This, along with their rarity as a Treasure Trail reward, made them desirable for high level players and caused their price to fluctuate significantly over time. In 2004, a common price for them was around 400-500k coins. This rose steadily to account for demand and inflation, but remained stable until 2009, when their Grand Exchange value began to quickly increase from around 5 million coins to over 10 million. This eventually hit a peak of over 32.5 million coins in June 2011. Their decline in price began later in the same year with the introduction of Glaiven boots; 2012 also saw the addition of Armadyl boots and Pernix boots, freeing up the bottleneck in ranged footwear among higher level players. Towards the end of 2012, the Evolution of Combat categorized ranger boots as tier 40 armour, causing a further decline. In 2018 their price saw a brief resurgence with the introduction of golden thread, before dropping sharply.

Like many Treasure Trail rewards, they are currently worth around 1 million coins, their price having been stabilized by the Invention skill due to guaranteeing fortunate components when disassembled.
