Overview[edit | edit source]

Raksha, the Shadow Colossus is an imprisoned rex colossus found underneath the Anachronia Swamp Fortress. He can be fought alone or in a duo.

In a solo encounter Raksha has 800,000 health; in duo encounters he possesses 1,600,000 health. The fight generally emphasises fast DPS with prayer flicking. Praying against Raksha's attacks will significantly reduce the amount of damage taken: tanking an unprotected attack from Raksha can deal well over 4,000 damage. With the exception of shadow gas clouds from Raksha's shadow bomb attack, all of Raksha's abilities deal soft typeless damage; meaning that they can be reduced with defensive abilities.

Raksha has very high offensive stats making it very unlikely for any of his auto-attacks to miss. Raksha is considered to be a 5x5 tile area sized monster but his moveable hitboxes are smaller than his size suggests, so Raksha should be made to move toward to the player to enhance bleed abilities rather than walking underneath him.

Defensively, Raksha possesses a Defence level of 85 with an armour rating of 2178. Despite having no listed weakness, Raksha is weakest against Ranged attacks, with 65 ranged affinity, making ranged the most consistent in terms of accuracy and can be fought without accuracy increasing auras. He is equally weak to both magic and melee with 55 affinity.

There is no difference in drop rates in solo and duo encounters. Duo encounters are typically faster than solo encounters when both players are experienced.

Attacks[edit | edit source]

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4
Yes check.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg

Auto-attack (melee/ranged/magic attack)

Mechanics: Raksha uses all three styles of combat: lunging and biting the player with melee; launching spikes with ranged; and discharging a shadow ball of energy with magic. In melee distance Raksha will always alternate between auto-attacks in all three combat styles and will never perform attacks using the same style consecutively.

If his target is out of melee range he will perform range and magic auto-attacks, sometimes using the same style consecutively. In duo encounters, the range and magic attacks are launched at both players. He will chase after his primary target if they are out of melee distance.

The auto-attack animations can be delayed significantly if Raksha is moved as he attacks, giving less time to react to his attacks, which is usually the case when his target is underneath him.

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4

Shadow anima (mechanic)

Mechanics: After each tail sweep/charge attack Raksha's violent movement will cause three pools of shadow anima (six in duo mode) to drip down from the four shadow anima cranes in the oubliette. These pools are level 50 and possess 1,000 health. Eight of these will form around the arena during phase transitions to phase 2 and 3. Pools take priority on clear spots, with five visible at most. If all spots are occupied additional pools will stack underneath the visible ones. Pools will deal around 1,500 damage if the player is standing on top of them. Under certain conditions Raksha can siphon from these pools to strengthen both his power and hide.

In phase 1 and 2 Raksha begins siphoning when he performs his shadow bomb attack, which heals him for 5,000 health from each pool siphoned. In phase 3 he hastens the rate of his siphoning, but this rush only heals him for half as much health. Regardless, the siphoned anima will strengthen Raksha's power and hide; the former increases his combat level and damage for all of his attacks, while the latter reduces the amount of damage he takes.

Action required: Destroy the pools with AoE abilities accordingly based on player DPS. A halberd-range weapon with laceration boots is considered to be the strongest pick due to its 5x5 AoE using Bladed Dive; chinchompas if ranging is the second best alternative.

Prayer required: None

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4
Yes check.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg

Tail sweep/trampling charge (typeless attack)

Mechanics: if the player is within melee range Raksha will perform a tail swipe with a large AoE. If the player out of melee range Raksha will charge towards the player's direction. Getting caught in the charge attack will deal around 5,000 (at 0% shadow absorbed) soft typeless damage, disabling protection prayers, stunning and binding the player for 3 seconds.

Game message: GRAAAAH! or RRR... followed by ROAAARRRRR!!!. If struck by either of these attacks in phase 2 onwards Raksha will follow-up by yelling SUCH A FRAIL CREATURE.

Action required: If in melee range, step several squares away from Raksha to avoid the tail swipe. The tail sweep has a range of 2 squares from Raksha's max melee range (effectively being a 7x7 AoE). If you are out of melee range and are being charged at use Surge or Escape. Using Anticipation or Freedom beforehand will prevent Raksha from disabling protection prayers if struck by the attack.

Prayer required: None (typeless attack that cannot be reduced with prayer)

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4
Yes check.svg Yes check.svg X mark.svg X mark.svg

Shadow bomb & shadow bombardment (magic attack)

Mechanics: Raksha will walk to the centre of the first arena and discharge five blasts of shadow energy that deal around 3,000 magic damage per hit. While this mechanic is active damage dealt to Raksha is reduced by 90%, apart from reflected damage. During the phases it is used Raksha will also siphon from anima pools lingering in the oubliette.

Game message: Raksha prepares to sent out 5 waves of energy. Raksha will also yell FLEE, INSECT. and a message will appear stating Raksha begins to bombard you with shadow bombs. Watch out! when this attack is initiated.

Action required: Pray against magic and use defensive abilities such as Resonance and Reflect.

Prayer required: Deflect Magic.png: RS3 Inventory image of Deflect MagicDeflect Magic

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4
Yes check.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg

Shadow anchor (magic attack)

Mechanics: Raksha launches a shadow orb at player(s), applying a 6 second stun and bind. The tile that the bomb is targeting is marked by green arrows similar to Detonate's. In duo encounters, this is only applied to the player he is focused on; the other player does not get any orbs. The bomb has a 2 tile radius from the centre (3x3 AoE); if Freedom or Anticipation was used before the attack was initiated, it will simply deal around 6,000 magic damage. If Freedom is used after the stun applies, it will still cause prayers to be disabled if you are hit. After impact it leaves behind a 3 tile radius (5x5 AoE) of dangerous shadow anima that damages player(s) standing it at 800 hard typeless damage, increasing by 400 every tick it persists, capping at 2,000 damage. These clouds of shadow anima dissipate about 30 seconds upon being spread.

Action required: Using Anticipation or Freedom before Raksha uses the attack will prevent the bomb from stunning and binding the player. Move at least three spaces away from the marked tile to avoid damage from the anima cloud.

Prayer required: Deflect Magic.png: RS3 Inventory image of Deflect MagicDeflect Magic for the bomb; anima deals typeless damage

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4
X mark.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg X mark.svg

Colossal stomp (typeless attack)

Mechanics: After going into the next phase for 2 and 3, Raksha will violently stomp the ground, causing the ceiling to collapse from above. Like Telos' ceiling collapse attack, small rocks will fall down as a warning indicator before a large rock falls down in a 3 tile from center (5x5 AoE) radius. Unlike Telos' rocks however, these rocks will also damage players next to them on impact, essentially making them cover a 4 tile from center (7x7) radius. Rocks will continually fall around the player's position, with one of these always in a spot that will always hit the player if they do not move; there are four of these rocks per player during the transition.

Game message: Raksha begins to stamp the ground in anger. Watch out!

Action required: Dodge the falling rocks. Debilitate, Reflect or Disruption Shield can be used to reduce/block incoming damage if necessary.

Prayer required: None (typeless attack that cannot be reduced with prayer)

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4
X mark.svg Yes check.svg Yes check.svg X mark.svg

Mind flay (typeless attack)

Mechanics: Players will become immobilised and between 2-5 orbs of shadow energy (2 by default, +1 for every 25% anima absorbed during the shadow anima pool mechanic) will appear around the player and will start dealing approximately 600 typeless damage per tick. While the attack does not bind or stun players they are essentially frozen in place until all orbs are dispelled. Raksha will stop using auto-attacks for 8 seconds during this time but at the end of the timeframe any shadow energy still remaining will deal approximately 3,000 typeless damage each.

Game message: Raksha begins to poison your mind with shadow energy. alongside Raksha exclaiming YOUR THOUGHTS BETRAY YOU. while channeling the attack, followed by RRRAR!!! after the attack has finished channeling.

Action required: Each orb of shadow energy must be clicked on once to dispel them, stop the damage over time effect, and allow for movement. During this attack Raksha will not use any auto-attacks so using Soul Split to offset the damage this attack does is recommended.

Prayer required: None (Soul Split.png: RS3 Inventory image of Soul SplitSoul Split recommended to heal from the unavoidable damage)

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4

Shadow detonation (typeless attack)

Mechanics:

  1. Raksha will stop performing auto-attacks for the duration of this attack while charging up shadow anima as a blue dome surrounds him.
  2. A bar will also appear above him; if it fills he will unleash a blast of shadow anima that causes instant death if not dealt with properly. The dome that surrounds him will de-spawn prior to the next instance of this attack as a warning that it is being used again.
  3. The life point bar HUD is temporarily replaced by the number of life points his shield has. When the dome is attacked, it will spill out fragments of shadow anima and spills out even more when the dome is shattered across the antechamber for a total of fifteen (solo) or thirty (duo), including underneath Raksha, with the Keeper suggesting that they be collected.
  4. The scattered anima will be automatically collected when the player is within 3 tiles of one, much like the anima in Shattered Worlds.
  5. When the anima is absorbed, a message will appear stating As the shadow anima is drawn to you, an inner power surfaces. Activating 'Inner Power' will increase damage dealt to Raksha by 10% per stack. alongside the extra action button to begin Inner Power.

Game message: I WILL DRAG YOU INTO EREBUS.

Action required: There are only two ways to avoid this attack:

  • Deal enough damage to break the dome. The damage varies based on how much anima Raksha had absorbed in the previous phases, with a minimum of 10,000 damage in solo if not empowered at all. Each percentage point from filling up on anima increases the dome's durability by 400 or 500 health. In duo encounters, both values are doubled for a minimum of 20,000 damage and 800 to 1,000 health for every percentage point.
    • As the game message states, Inner Power increases your damage by 10% per stack; with 15 fragments of shadow anima, this equates to 150% additional damage.
    • This will also work with other damage-increasing sources, so it will be very easy to hit the damage cap for 30 seconds when used with a damage-increasing ultimate. It may be beneficial to forgo a Planted Feet Sunshine/Death's Swiftness or the Blackhole special from the Zaros godsword if meleeing for additional damage. Try to avoid using Berserk with Inner Power if meleeing. The Dark Shard of Leng special will benefit from the damage bonus from 15+ stacks.
    • For players struggling with DPS, four stacks of Storm Shards under 12 or more Inner Power stacks will easily hit the 30,000 damage cap.
  • Hide behind one of the four posts, which the Keeper suggests to do. Only recommended if the dome cannot be breached in time.
Prayer required: None (typeless attack that cannot be reduced with prayer)

Phases[edit | edit source]

HP
Solo Duo Effect when met or depleted
Raksha (start of phase) 800,000 1,600,000 N/A
Raksha (damage cap) 600,000 1,200,000 Begins next phase

During this phase Raksha uses auto-attacks; the tail sweep/trampling charge attack; the shadow bomb & shadow bombardment attacks; and, if the phase lasts long enough, magical shockwaves. Mitigate them with prayer and available defensives, including movement abilities when appropriate.

Although shadow anima pools will appear with every tail sweep/trampling charge attack Raksha will not siphon from them until the shadow bomb mechanic is initiated. Shadow bombs during this phase will only strike once and will be sent against both players in duo encounters. If the player(s) can deal enough damage to end the phase quickly they can be ignored during this phase.

In duo encounters, there should be a designated tank who if possible, should have Raksha facing back from the DPS so that Flanking may be used. This person will also use Provoke and Incite to minimise the chances of Raksha aggro'ing the DPS player.

Attack rotation:

Phase 1 4 auto-attacks Tail sweep/trampling charge Shadow anima 4 auto-attacks 1 Shadow anchor 4 auto-attacks Tail sweep/trampling charge Shadow anima 4 auto-attacks 1 Shadow anchor 4 auto-attacks Shadow bomb Repeats cycle

HP
Solo Duo Effect when met or depleted
Raksha (start of phase) 600,000 1,200,000 N/A
Raksha (damage cap) 400,000 800,000 Begins next phase

A message will occasionally appear on the screen stating Raksha begins to poison your mind with shadow energy., indicating that the mind flay attack is being used. By default two orbs appear, but there may be up to four in this phase, based on how much anima he has absorbed.

In addition, the number of shadow anchor orbs launched is increased based on the percentage of shadow anima Raksha has absorbed. There will be a minimum of three but an additional orb will be launched for every 25% anima absorbed, capping at seven.

As with the previous phase, Raksha will only siphon from the pools when he initiates the shadow bomb & shadow bombardment attack. It is still recommended to clear all pools before starting the next phase. If the player's DPS is lacking, begin applying Storm Shards during this phase.

Attack rotation:

Phase 2 4 #auto-attacks Mind flay 4 auto-attacks Tail sweep/trampling charge Shadow anima 4 #auto-attacks 3 shadow anchor 4 #auto-attacks Tail sweep/trampling charge Shadow anima 4 auto-attacks Shadow bomb & shadow bombardment Repeats cycle

HP
Solo Duo Effect when met or depleted
Raksha (start of phase) 400,000 800,000 N/A
Raksha (damage cap) 200,000 400,000 Begins next phase

When the phase begins the message Raksha anchors you to the shadows. will appear; this summons one shadow manifestation for each player in the arena, but their aggression is completely random in duo encounters. These are level 160 with 10,000 health and behave in the same way as their real counterparts on the surface of Anachronia. It is recommended to kill them off as soon as they spawn as their attacks drain combat stats by 3 if not overloaded or shortening overload's duration if the potion is active. They will also perform a frenzy attack that hits five times, each of these hits applying a single stack of the armour break debuff.

Raksha will siphon the shadow anima at a much faster rate. Destroy all of the pools as soon as the shadow anchor message appears. It is important not to mess up any Bladed Dive attacks on the pools as failure to clear the pools quickly enough often results in Raksha gaining a significant amount of energy. If this does occur use Hurricane on one cluster of pools and then clear the remaining two clusters with AoE/multi-target abilities.

In duo encounters, one player should tackle the northern set of pools while the other deals with the southern set. This allows them to quickly return back to attacking Raksha once the pools have been destroyed.

Attack rotation:

Phase 3 4 auto-attacks + shadow manifestation spawn mind flay 4 auto-attacks 3 shadow anchors 4 auto-attacks Tail sweep/trampling charge Shadow anima Repeats cycle

HP
Solo Duo Effect when met or depleted
Raksha (start of phase) 200,000 400,000 N/A
Raksha (damage cap) 0 Ends encounter

At the start of this phase, the Keeper will instruct the player(s) to run into the antechamber as the shadow becomes too overwhelming in the oubliette. Any shadow manifestations in the oubliette will automatically die off. Although additional shadow anima pools will form in the oubliette during the phase Raksha cannot siphon from them.

Raksha will pursue the player(s) only for the Keeper to activate a holding field to trap Raksha, which also causes four hydraulic posts to rise in the corners. These posts will block players from attacking Raksha with abilities if diagonally across from them, but Raksha will still be able to attack players. In addition the holding field will prevent players from directly using vulnerability bombs directly on Raksha: throw the bombs onto the tiles next to the holding field to apply vulnerability to him.

He will become enraged and heal himself back to phase 3's initial starting health, meaning that he begins with 400,000 or 800,000 life points. Raksha is immune to damage until he has healed up, so you should not attack him right away to avoid wasted DPS.

In this phase Raksha becomes a blocked 5x5 monster that cannot be walked through and discards most of his special attacks, retaining only his tail sweep and his phase 1 shadow anchor mechanic for the remainder of the fight. He uses the tail swipe if his target is within range, directly next to a post at max range, or a shadow bomb if his target is more than two tiles away from the posts. Because the shadow bomb will outpace the cooldown of both Freedom and Anticipation, it is highly recommended to stay close to Raksha whenever possible so that he will always use his tail swipe instead of launching shadow bombs. The combination of both a prayer-disabling shadow bomb and one of Raksha's auto-attacks will deal massive, if not outright fatal damage, especially if he has been empowered.

Since the shadow bomb mechanic is reverted to its phase 1 variant, this means that both players get a shadow bomb if Raksha initiates this attack in duo encounters. Therefore, the base tank must always keep Raksha's attention on them and forces him to do tail sweeps instead of shadow bombs.

Because Raksha turns into a 5x5 blocked monster, this means that all five hits of the seren godbow's special will always hit him when the first arrow hits. Despite Raksha's increased affinity, he will need to have an affinity stack of 3 or higher or a ranged body switch in order for the special to hit him with acceptable accuracy if using melee or magic. Anguish or Desolation may also be used briefly to increase its damage and accuracy. It is very important to avoid turning around the posts when using the special attack, as doing so will only cause the first hit to register, while the remaining four are nulled because the player cannot "see" Raksha.

Ranging players should switch from their ruby bakriminel bolts to another bolt of their choosing (preferably dragonstone or hydrix, but ascension and blight is also fine) after Raksha reaches 250,000 health.

Attack rotation:

Phase 4 Regains 200,000 life points 2 auto-attacks Tail sweep or shadow anchor 2 auto-attacks Tail sweep or shadow anchor 2 auto-attacks Shadow detonation 2 auto-attacks Tail sweep or shadow anchor 2 auto-attacks Tail sweep or shadow anchor 2 auto-attacks Tail sweep or shadow anchor 2 auto-attacks Tail sweep or shadow anchor 2 auto-attacks Shadow detonation Repeats cycle

Raksha also gains a new special attack during this phase: Erebus Charge, indicated by him yelling I WILL DRAG YOU INTO EREBUS.. See the Attacks section for more information on the mechanics of this attack as well as how to counter it.

After countering the mechanic, absorb all of the shadow fragments possible in one go; backtrack only if the fragment(s) are very close to you. While gathering the fragments, make sure to either force Raksha into a tail sweep or have bind immunity against the shadow bomb. With 12 or more fragments absorbed, it will be very easy to hit the damage cap. With optimal gear, Raksha should be subdued before the power wears off.
