Pyre logs detail.png

Pyre logs are specially-treated logs used in the Shades of Mort'ton minigame for the cremation of Loar and Phrin shade remains. They require level 5 Firemaking to light and grant 50 Firemaking experience when used to cremate a shade. During and after the Legacy of Seergaze quest, pyre logs of teak or higher may be used to cremate Vyre corpses in the Columbarium under Paterdomus temple, while magic and elder logs will yield a Shiny columbarium key.

Preparation[edit | edit source]

To make Pyre Logs, players must first obtain some sacred oil. Sacred oil may be purchased from the Grand Exchange. It can also be made in the Shades of Mort'ton quest, or created in Shades of Mort'ton minigame. To create the oil, players need to purchase normal olive oil from Razmire Keelgan's store in Mort'ton and then help to restore the temple that lies to the north of the town. Once the temple is rebuilt, players may light the altar in the centre of the temple and use their olive oil on the fire. This converts the ordinary olive oil into sacred oil.

Once the sacred oil has been obtained, players will need to use it upon some logs. Different types of logs use a different number of doses of sacred oil. After application of the Sacred Oil, the logs become that log type's version of pyre logs.

Use[edit | edit source]

Once a player has obtained the normal pyre logs they may use them, along with a set of shade remains (Loar/Phrin), upon one of the numerous funeral pyres located to the south-west of Mort'ton's centre. Players may then light the pyre and, by doing so, release the spirit of the shade. The player will see an animation of the shade's spirit floating up, away from the pyre, and then either a key or a stack of coins will appear on the pedestal nearby. The type and level of the key is dependant on which shade remains the player has burnt, with higher level shades leaving higher level keys. Players may then collect the reward and continue with the minigame.

After Legacy of Seergaze, pyre logs of teak or higher may be used to cremate Vyre corpses in the Columbarium under Paterdomus temple.
