Pylon battery detail.png

Pylon batteries are items which can be found in the Kharid-et Dig Site while excavating the various sites (remains and material caches) inside the fortress (not on the surface or the praetorium). The pylon batteries may also be obtained as a reward from the collector Soran, Emissary of Zaros by completing their Archaeology collections.

Currently the fastest way to get batteries is to repeatedly do Zarosian I collections for Soran, which gives around 80-100 batteries per hour depending on your skill level.

Uses[edit | edit source]

Pylon[edit | edit source]

The first and foremost use for the pylon batteries is for charging the pylon found in the main fortress level. Adding pylon batteries to the pylon awards Archaeology experience based on level, each battery also contributing 0.001% charge to the pylon across all worlds up to 100% (100,000 batteries in total) for a temporary buff to all players that lasts for 30 minutes. A maximum of 10,000 batteries can be handed in at once. Handing in 10–99 batteries at once will award 10% extra experience, and handing in 100 or more batteries at once will award 20% extra experience.

Handing in batteries will give experience based on the number of batteries and your Archaeology level:

Pylon boost[edit | edit source]

Inquisitor staff detail.png

When the pylon is charged to 100%, everyone in Kharid-et on all worlds is given the opportunity to receive pieces of the Inquisitor staff when excavating from any excavation or cache node in the main and prison area of the fortress for 30 minutes. The drop rate of staff pieces are further increased when excavating in the praetorium.

While the pylon is active, batteries are unobtainable but can still be turned in for experience. Doing so does not extend the duration of the pylon's activation effects nor will it provide charge after the pylon's buff effect has ended. Therefore, it is best to wait until after the event has ended to turn in pylon batteries.

Shadow anchors[edit | edit source]

The second use for pylon batteries are for activating shadow anchors. Ten batteries are used to charge each of the eight shadow anchors permanently in Kharid-et, requiring a total of 80 batteries to charge all of them. These can be used instead of a fully charged pylon to complete The Vault of Shadows.
