A potion reservoir is a device which can be used to automatically consume doses of a potion. When a potion is used on an active reservoir, it will fill up and automatically consume the potion 1-15 seconds before the potion's effects would expire. However, the reservoir cannot hold certain combination potions, regardless of timers.
Click on a potion reservoir (inactive) to activate it. Only one potion reservoir may be active at a time. Potions which are not on a timer cannot be added (e.g., super restores). To fill the potion reservoir, use a potion on an activated potion reservoir. Each potion reservoir can hold up to six doses and cannot be refilled (or "topped off"). Once the potion is added, the reservoir can be switched on which causes the player to consume the first dose of the potion, and automatically drink more as specified before. The reservoir can be switched off at any point, but switching it on again always consumes a dose, regardless of time remaining on the effect. Once all doses are consumed, the reservoir is destroyed.
Analysis[edit | edit source]
The potion reservoir is useful for situations where the player does not want to/cannot pay full attention to the game, so they are often used for AFK combat training. For example, the potion reservoir could be helpful when fighting dragons, because if the player has a momentary lapse of attention and forgets to drink a new dose of antifire, they could die within seconds. With a potion reservoir, they would only need to remember to activate a new reservoir every 20-30 minutes.
Reservoirs also have some use in certain skilling situations, as a potion reservoir filled with prayer renewal or super prayer renewal potion can also allow prayers such as Chronicle Attraction or Superheat Form to be used effortlessly for over half an hour at a time. Players wearing a grace of the elves will even be able to sustain Light Form this way, although depending on prayer level this may require the use of prayer equipment or a holy wrench.
Potion reservoirs are not as useful when the player is paying full attention to the game, as a player in combat typically has to constantly monitor the combat scenario they are in. Potion reservoirs will also drink the potion 1-15 seconds before the effects actually expire, wasting 1-15 seconds of every single dose.
Potions used[edit | edit source]
- Antifire, super antifire, extended antifire potions
- Juju and perfect juju potions
- Prayer renewal and super prayer renewal potions
- Skilling potions that have extreme variants (divination, hunter, runecrafting, invention)
- Combination potions containing the above
However, 1-5 dose flasks may also be used on a potion reservoir as well as certain 1-4 dose vials such as aggression potions, weapon poison variants, and prayer renewal. This can be useful, allowing a player to cheaply use 4 dose aggression potions/weapon poison to save money on the potion flask, while still having a long lasting effect due to the potion reservoir.

Exceptions[edit | edit source]
- Fletching, fishing, crafting and archaeology potions
- Standard combat potions (eg attack potion)
