Potion flask detail.png

A potion flask is a large flask that can hold up to six doses of most potions, including juju and perfect juju potions but excluding combination potions, rather than the four doses of a vial. The flask is automatically destroyed once emptied, either by finishing the potion or by pouring the potion out. Potion flasks, both empty and filled, can be traded on the Grand Exchange. However, filled potion flasks must contain a tradeable potion in order to be tradeable, and can only be traded on the Grand Exchange as six-dose flasks (with a few exceptions such as Weapon poison flasks (+) (++)); all other doses can only be traded player-to-player.

Empty flasks are filled by decanting from vials. Vials cannot be decanted into partially-filled flasks. Flasks containing four doses or less of a potion can be decanted into vials. Teplin Macagan and Rhobert Dail can decant flasks for the player, even in noted form.

A potion flask is made by blowing robust glass at level 89 Crafting, yielding 100 experience. Robust glass is obtained by using red sandstone on the robust glass machines located in Oo'glog and the Ithell district of Prifddinas. As using the robust glass machine requires completing As a First Resort, the quest is an indirect requirement to create potion flasks. It is possible to get the Crafting strange and golden rocks through creating potion flasks. If the Artificer's measure is equipped, the player has a 5% chance to create a duplicate flask.

Assuming a player does their daily mining of red sandstone, they will gain a minimum of 5,000 Crafting experience each day making flasks (7,500 if they completed the elite Desert achievements), as well as 736,500 coins (1,104,750 coins if they completed the elite Desert achievements) if sold on the Grand Exchange.

Despite being created entirely of non-tradeable materials, the flask itself is tradeable, as are any flasks containing tradeable potions. The resources required to craft robust glass are non-tradeable and have a maximum of 50 (75 if the player has completed the elite Desert achievements) available to players daily (or more with the extra ores bonus from Shooting Star and the saved ores from the resourceful aura).

Update history[edit | edit source]

This information has been compiled as part of the update history project. Some updates may not be included—see here for how to help out!
  • patch 13 November 2013 (Update):
    • Using a flask on barbarian potions no longer causes disconnections.
  • patch 10 September 2013 (Update):
    • Partially used potion flasks can now be decanted into each other. The potion flask still breaks if one of the potion is emptied.
    • Teplin Macagan has an extra option to decant the potion flasks in bulk, including noted flasks. He takes the empty potion flasks as payment.
