Potato (Farming)

Potato plants are the first plant able to be grown as part of the Farming skill. They can be grown by planting three seeds together in an allotment patch. When harvested, a potato plant yields raw potatoes.

A nearby gardener will ask for 2 buckets of compost per allotment patch to watch over growing potato plants. Planting marigolds or white lilies will also prevent nearby potato plants from becoming diseased. Potato plants grown in the potato patch in Taverley will also never become diseased.

Update history[edit | edit source]

The update history project is a work-in-progress – not all updates to this topic may be covered below. See here for how to help out!
  • patch 29 May 2013 (Update):
    • Fly trap plants and diseased potatoes now grow to the correct state.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Potatoes are usually grown from tubers, not seeds; it is possible that the incorrect term was used by Jagex for simplicity and consistency in naming.
  • When they have finished growing and are ready for harvest, potato plants are simply named "Potato" rather than "Potato plant"
