Portent of death detail.png

Portent of death is an item that resurrects the player after death and gives the player 15% of their base life points. Additionally, if the target is not immune to reflect damage, it removes 15% of the target's base life points, to a maximum of 10000 damage. The damage type matches the user's weapon. It can be created with 99 Divination using 100 elder energy and 1 diamond ring or using 35 memory shards, yielding 24 Divination experience. It has a 1 hour cooldown, shared with the sign of death, the sign of life, the portent of life, and the defence cape perk. It cannot be used in PvP areas.

This item doesn't occupy the pocket slot, therefore it can be used together with any Scrimshaw.

Update history[edit | edit source]

The update history project is a work-in-progress – not all updates to this topic may be covered below. See here for how to help out!
  • patch 26 January 2015 (Update):
    • The sign/portent of death will no longer deal damage to opponents when they are immune to damage.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Originally, the cooldown of this item counted down during in-game time. Due to many player complaints regarding how players were forced to stay one hour in-game longer than expected just to remove the cooldown, this was changed on 13 November 2017 so that the cooldown would count down even when the player was logged out.
  • Before the update of 26 January 2015, Portents or Sign of Deaths were popular choices in PvM to deliver the finish blow.
