The Phishing Awareness Competition was a competition to raise awareness against phishing attempts, as Jagex had just recently updated their player support articles with more information about phishing. The competition asked people to answer a multiple choice correctly, and three random winners would receive 3 months of membership subscription and their choice of either a RuneScape or Old School RuneScape bond.

The question was: "in our recently updated phishing support article, what do we say is the best way to avoid the fake ‘Support Email’ phishing scam?"

  • A: Always mouse over hyperlinks in emails you didn’t expect, to check if they are fake.
  • B: Never login to an account you didn’t create yourself (Jagex will NEVER ask you to do this)
  • C: Be wary of speculative ‘support’ emails that claim to be from Customer Support.

The correct answer was B. Although all three answers were correct, B was the most correct.[1]
