New Varrock is an achievements subcategory of the Exploration category. These achievements are completed in New Varrock, first accessed upon starting the Dimension of Disaster quest. The taskmaster for this set of achievements is Tiny Zemouregal, found near the fountain in the centre of New Varrock. Rewards for completing the achievements in the set at each level include instant payment of Zemomarks (the currency of New Varrock), increase of Zemomarks reward whenever Dimension of Disaster: Curse of Arrav is completed, and upgrades to the Varrock armour.

All achievements under this subcategory are required for master quest cape. They only need to be done once; replaying the quest will not reset progress on the achievements.

While not part of the New Varrock achievement subcategory, the achievement Livid is done within New Varrock.

Chest locations

The 6 chests in a gang hideout can only be collected in one gang hideout or the other. Both are not required, and attempting to search the opposite gang stash on a second playthrough will show the chests as already looted.

Development history

The New Varrock Tasks were rebranded as achievements on 18 April 2017, and they can be found as a subcategory New Varrock in the Exploration achievements category of the achievements interface after choosing 'Hero'. After the update of 4 December 2017, they could be found as a subcategory of the Miscellaneous achievements category. On 18 June 2018, the New Varrock achievements were moved together with the Wushanko: The Arc achievements from the Miscellaneous achievements to the Exploration achievements.

This set of achievements is not required for the completionist cape and also not for the master quest cape since the update on 4 December 2017.

The achievement once again becomes a requirement of master quest cape since the update on 16 January 2023.

Update history

• patch 16 January 2023 (Update):
  • All achievements under this subcategory are now required for Master quest cape.

• patch 7 January 2019 (Update):
  • Varrock armour now increases the chance for double bars when smelting, for double ore when mining and for double progress when smithing. Higher levels of the armour work on higher level metals.
  • New varrock armour doubles the effectiveness of varrock armour, and allows its mining and smithing benefits to work without wearing the armour.

• ninja 4 December 2017 (Update):
  • Dimension of Disaster's achievements have been moved to a New Varrock subcategory in the Misc category. Tiny Zemo's pocket book now opens the achievement interface.
