FAQ • doc |
A bucket of milk is an item used primarily in Cooking. It is also used to feed tooth creatures and kittens. If fed to a hellcat, it will turn back into a normal cat.
A bucket of milk is a vital ingredient in making cakes (and, by extension, chocolate cakes). Depending on their Cooking level, players can use a dairy churn to turn a bucket of milk into a pot of cream, a pat of butter, a cheese wheel, or Cream cheese. As none of these products include the bucket, the empty bucket would be automatically dropped if you make those without extra inventory space. As buckets cost little, they are usually left dropped (due to the long time taken by churning, the first buckets will begin to disappear if you churn a full inventory).
Members can turn a bucket of milk into chocolatey milk by adding chocolate dust. They can add the milk to nettle tea to create Milky nettle tea. It is also used to make chocolate saturdays in gnome cooking.

Obtaining buckets of milk[edit | edit source]
Buckets of milk are often used by new players as a way to make money, by buying empty buckets from stores for 1 or 2 coins and fill them, or buckets of milk from The Milk Shop for 12 coins, and selling the buckets of milk for 1,431 coins.
Players can use a bucket on a dairy cow to gain a bucket of milk, or simply click on the dairy cow when they have at least one empty bucket in their inventory.
Players can utilise any quick bank teleport (e.g. War's Retreat Teleport) along with an explorer's ring 3/4 to collect milk quickly. Withdraw 28 buckets from the bank and use the explorer's ring to teleport to the Falador cabbage patch. Cross over the fence and stile, fill your buckets with milk, bank and repeat. The milk seller stocks 200 buckets of milk which can also be collected with the same method.
A dairy cow can also be found next to Gillie Groats in east Lumbridge a fairly short distance away from the bank chest in Lumbridge Market, but this location has no milk seller.
Members can obtain unlimited buckets of milk from any type of larder in the kitchen of their player-owned houses. A bucket of milk spawns in a hut in the eastern part of Rellekka.

History[edit | edit source]
The 24 June 2010 update added milk sellers and their store.
Due to the updates on 27 May 2009, a glitch caused the filling of a bucket with milk to be classified as a members only action. To compensate for this, players could (for one week only) speak to Gillie Groats the milkmaid to receive free buckets of milk.
Update history[edit | edit source]
- patch 14 October 2019 (Update):
- When using the Dairy Churn, you will now gain 1 Empty Bucket only if a Bucket of Strawberry/Chocolate/Vanilla/Normal Milk is used.
- patch 11 March 2019 (Update):
- Churning milks into cream cheeses was giving experience different to the experience given listed on the interface, this has now been corrected.
- patch 13 August 2013 (Update):
- Buckets of water and milk no longer share the same appearance in the HTML5 client.
