Marathon checkpoints could be found alongside marathon routes during the Gielinor Games. When marathons started, these checkpoints appeared along the marathon routes and players who competed in the event would be led to the next checkpoint by yellow arrows. Once they appeared, checkpoints would despawn after 60 minutes.
In order to properly progress through the marathon and have your performance tracked, players had to pass within a few squares of these checkpoints. After completing a marathon, players could begin another lap by resetting a checkpoint or tagging any gate.
