King Roald Remanis II was the former king of Misthalin, and the father of the present king, King Roald III. It was during his reign in year 143 of the Fifth Age when the Shield of Arrav was stolen by the Phoenix Gang, and it was he who put a bounty of 1,200 coins (then a large amount) on the return of the shield. The bounty set by King Roald II was claimed 26 years later by the player character in year 169 of Fifth Age.[1][2][3]

"However, in the year 143 of the fifth age a gang of thieves called the Phoenix Gang broke into the museum and stole the shield in a daring raid. As a result, the current ruler, King Roald, put a 1200 gold bounty (a massive sum of money in those days) on the return of the shield, hoping that one of the culprits would betray his fellows out of greed."
