Johanhus Ulsbrecht is the leader of the Humans Against Monsters (H.A.M.) cult. He can be found inside the H.A.M. Dungeon in the southern room behind a desk. He is a major character (players do not need to speak to him directly) in the Dorgeshuun quest series.

History[edit | edit source]

At an unspecified point, Johanhus became the leader of the H.A.M. cult, who opposed monsters and used violence to drive them out of their own lands.

Lobbying[edit | edit source]

The following takes place during The Lost Tribe.

After Sigmund was exposed attempting to incite war between the kingdom of Lumbridge and the Dorgeshuun, Horacio forbade the cult from going after them as they were not the same as the violent, unintelligent surface goblins that roamed Lumbridge. Johanhus chose to comply and ordered the cult to peacefully lobby the removal of monsters, as he did not want to get punished.

The following takes place during The Chosen Commander.

Sigmund, still full of hatred for the Dorgeshuun, formed a splinter group with like-minded individuals and formed their own base in Kandarin. However, they were wiped out by a possessed Zanik and blindly loyal surface goblins. Johanhus learned of Sigmund's death and was upset to have lost a good friend, but also claimed the dangers of direct involvement. He has since changed his views on the Dorgeshuun, believing them to be just as decent as the gnomes and dwarves, but continues to peacefully lobby for the removal of more violent monsters.

A Small Favour[edit | edit source]

The following takes place during One Small Favour.

He plays a small role in One Small Favour, where the adventurer is tasked by Aggie the witch to find her apprentice Jimmy the Chisel, who the cult had kidnapped in return for defending Brian's friend in an upcoming trial. Johanhus agrees to let Jimmy leave if the adventurer provides the cult with a month's supply of chickens, suggesting to visit Fred the Farmer. The adventurer completes more tasks, managing to secure a month's worth of chickens from Seth Groats. Johanhus allows Jimmy to leave the H.A.M. hideout, though he unsuccessfully tries to recruit the adventurer into the cult's cause.

Worshipping the Elder Gods[edit | edit source]

The following takes place during A Cultist's Journey.

Around this time, Johanhus learned of the Elder Gods and had the cult begin worshipping them, oblivious to the fact that they were angered at mortal life. He began ordering his cultists to begin searching for caches of First Age armour, as they were apparently made by humans worshipping them. He believed that if they restored the armour, the cult would obtain their favour and have them wipe out the monsters.

The cult was eventually able to find some armour, which Johanhus immediately wore. He believed that he would now obtain their favour, and claimed that the armour was pristine because it was not touched, and also claimed of seeing visions in his dreams. The Curator believed that the armour was a by-product of the magic used by the elders.

Johanhus soon made his way to Senntisten where the Elder Gods' forces were fighting the mortal races. He claimed to be a "close associate" of the World Guardian to gain entry, and the gods did not take any action against him. He was mesmerized by the eggs. The World Guardian was upset that he had used them to gain entry, but nonetheless reminded him not to go to the battlefield or he would die.

Believing the Elder Gods were still benevolent beings, he went to the battlefield and only saw indiscriminate killing. Now realizing the truth of the World Guardian's words, he quickly abandoned his faith to the Elder Gods and teleported away from the battlefield.

During Path of the Creators, you have the option to find Johanhus on tiers 2, 15, 30, and 40 for a maximum of four tasks. For each of these tiers, there is an alternative way to complete the tier. If you use an alternative method to complete a tier, Johanhus' location does not change. For example, if you complete tiers 2 and 15 using an alternative method, but use A Cultist's Journey on tiers 30 and 40, then tier 30 has your first task and tier 40 has your second.
