Jewels of the Elid
Jewels of the Elid is an activity to find lost gems in Menaphos that can be started by talking to Assistant Librarian Subotai in the Merchant district. See the table for locations and information to find the jewels. When found the jewel appears in the backpack. Checking it by clicking on it removes it from the backpack and returns it to the Grand Library collection as well as registering it in the Menaphos journal.
When all jewels are found, the player is rewarded a Jewelled Scarab pet and the precious rhinestone cow, which can be traded in for reputation at a faction of choice.
Using dwarven ramhammers on double experience mode, or using the Bait and Switch relic will still allows jewels to be obtained.
When one random event (e.g., gullible tourist, riddler crab, etc.) is found on one world, the rest can be found by world-hopping.
Completing this collection is required for the Rock and Roll achievement and the title, Sandy [Name].
Jewel | Location | Hint | Description | |
---|---|---|---|---|
![]() |
Phenakite | Found whilst mining mineral deposits in the VIP skilling area. | Very few locations remain to mine phenakite, and the Pharaoh controls access to them. | Often used to adorn the jewellery of Pharaoh's[sic] past. |
![]() |
Menaphyrite | Found whilst looting urns during a game of Pyramid Plunder. Dropping loot isn't necessary; it goes to bank if inventory is full. | Traditionally this gemstone is buried with its owner to be used in the afterlife. | Fool's gold streaked with an abundant facsimile of azure from the east. |
![]() |
Waikonite | Pickpocketed from the Gullible tourist on the southern dock in the Port district. The tourist will spawn randomly on some worlds. | A gemstone found in the Arc region, perhaps you could track down some easterners to locate it for you. | First discovered on the island of Waiko. |
![]() |
Corundum | Found whilst mining crystalline corruption or opening chests in Shifting Tombs. The odds are around 1/750 per rock.[1] | We don't condone ransacking tombs, but recent geological activity makes retrieving these more an act of preservation than looting. | Tends to form in sheets, creating pleasing rectangular patterns. |
![]() |
Wavecrest opal | Found whilst fishing in the Port district or the VIP skilling area. | A crate of these gems was being transported here from the Arc region, but was lost at sea. Perhaps they could be retrieved? | Sometimes jokingly referred to as seagull pearls. |
![]() |
Maw coral | Found whilst fishing in the Port district or the VIP skilling area. | You might be able to find samples of this mineral on the sea shores. | Found in coral reefs off the coast. Many divers don't come back... |
![]() |
Crondite | Found when mining mineral deposits in the Worker district or the VIP skilling area. The chance is 1/3,000 per mining attempt.[2] | Smuggled out by a trustworthy worker, but with the Pharaoh's eyes everywhere it's been hard to keep it a secret. | Named so as it tends to form very sharp tooth-like shapes. |
![]() |
Alaeite | Complete the riddler crab riddle, on the southern dock in the Port district. The crab will spawn randomly on some worlds. | A gemstone found in the Arc region, perhaps you could track down some easterners to locate it for you. | Thought to be the crystallised salty tears of crablets. |
![]() |
Hetite stone | Can be found within the Sophanem Slayer Dungeon. You need to be on a corrupted creatures or soul devourers task. The location is random for everyone. Possible locations include:
|
This gem is held by a sympathetic Menaphite guard, but they've been home ill with a strange corrupting affliction. | One of the strongest and most resistant precious stones in existence. |
![]() |
Aminishi miststone | Sold by Aminishi gem trader for one unit of spices, on the southern dock in the Port district. The trader will spawn randomly on some worlds. | A gemstone found in the Arc region, perhaps you could track down some easterners to locate it for you. | Said to be formed in the bellies of Aminishi spirit dragons. |
![]() |
Hauyne | Can be obtained by completing any city quest. | Ask around town, somebody is sure to have some still in supply. | No one alive remembers where the name for theses crystals comes from. |
![]() |
Scabarite crystal | Locked house in the merchant district west of Grand Vizier Ehsan's house (quest icons). It is only open on certain days - see the Jewels of the Elid#Rotations for information. | This one-of-a-kind crystal was smuggled out of the Grand Library. I'm not sure who is keeping a hold of it now. | Tends to be mistaken for a horned beetle or a kalphite, but only at a glance. |

Tuai Leit sparkle | Sold by Tuai Leit gem trader for 5 bamboo, on the southern dock in the Port district. The trader will spawn randomly on some worlds. | A gemstone found in the Arc region, perhaps you could track down some easterners to locate it for you. | Abundant deposits in Tuai Leit's sea caves have led many sailors to their deaths. |
![]() |
Idocrase | Can be obtained by completing any city quest. | All the samples were confiscated, but there might be somebody in the city with some who is willing to part with it for a price. | For a gemstone, it doesn't half form some weird shapes. |
![]() |
Apmeken amethyst | Most north-western house in the Merchant district. It is only open on certain days - see the Jewels of the Elid#Rotations for information. | This unique gemstone was rumoured to have been sold on the black market to somebody in the Merchant district. | This gem's brown colouration links this to Apmeken in a less than flattering way. |
![]() |
Umesco arpos | Found whilst mining mineral deposits in the Worker district or VIP skilling area. | This gem is mined and exported for great profits. | This crescent-shaped gem is colloquially known as a soulstone. The name was coined by a gnomish explorer. |
