A hasta is a type of one-handed melee weapon similar to their two-handed brethren, spears. Hastae can be obtained either by trading with another player or using the Smithing skill upon completion of Barbarian Training on a specific barbarian anvil.

Hastae are rarely used because of the difficulty of obtaining them, as well as being nearly identical to shortswords, which are much easier to obtain.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Hasta means lance or spear in Latin.
  • Before the Evolution of Combat, hastae used to give negative defensive bonuses to compensate for being one-handed.
  • Hastae have an indirect skill requirement of 55 Fishing due to the required completion of barbarian fishing techniques.
  • Hastae could previously only be traded between players, and not on the Grand Exchange.
