Great Peckers are birds that can be found in the Arc region of the Wushanko Isles. When inspected, the bird will be added to the Arc Journal. If all 16 birds have been discovered, the Iago pet will be unlocked after speaking with Odd Billy on Cyclosis.

They are attracted to players Woodcutting bamboo on Waiko, Tuai Leit and Uncharted Isles. The bird can spawn up to about 10 paces away from the player, and can wander away. If chopping bamboo on Waiko, for instance, the Great Pecker can spawn on the main plaza by The Trapper.

There is a 1/200 chance to spawn one when chopping bamboo.[1]
