FAQ • doc |
Vindicta is the Ilujanka general of Zaros's army in the Heart of Gielinor. She was raised by Gorvek and is the daughter of Hannibus and Morvannon. Level 80 Attack is required to face her; however, this may be boosted.
Obtaining all unique drops will unlock the title, [Name] the Dragonrider.
History[edit | edit source]
Early history[edit | edit source]
After Zaros's fall, Zamorak sent the demons Avaryss, the Unceasing, Nymora, the Vengeful and their sister out to track down and eliminate the Dragon Riders who chose to remain loyal to Zaros. The demonic trio led a group of hellhounds to tear the Dragon Rider Morvannon apart, even though she had agreed to join Zamorak. The demons however didn't know that an egg had avoided them as they expected the Ilujanka to be infertile. Gorvek was able to escape however, with an egg, keeping it in stasis and only let it hatch when the area was safe, calling it Vindicta in the hopes that the child would avenge the Ilujanka.
Vindicta grew up in Gorvek's care in the Grotworm Lair, who also taught her how to fight and how to use her mother's armour and weapons. Vindicta is larger and more aggressive than her fellow Ilujanka due to spending her entire life on Gielinor. Vindicta resolved to slay the Twin Furies, who were responsible for her mother's death. She did not know her father, but assumed that he too had also been killed by them.
Showdown at the Heart[edit | edit source]
Vindicta and Gorvek were eventually led to the Heart in the Kharidian Desert, where they stood face to face with the Twin Furies as well as the Sliskean Gregorovic and the Serenist Helwyr. Though her grudge was only against the Twin Furies, both Helwyr and Gregorovic decided that they would fight against her to claim the Heart. She called upon the forces of Zaros to claim the Heart in his name, in addition to curing her dying race.
Sliske's Endgame[edit | edit source]
Vindicta her lord's entourage alongside Azzanadra and Char during Sliske's Endgame, where she initially confuses the World Guardian as one of Zaros' enemies. Zaros ordered her to stand down, as they are an invaluable asset to his plans. She returns to the Heart after she is expelled from the maze.
The Ambassador's Threat[edit | edit source]
Mr. Mordaut informed Hannibus and the World Guardian about the dragonrider general fighting in the Heart, prompting the two to visit her. Vindicta shows initial disgust at Hannibus and the rest of the Illujanka in general for being too cowardly and just willing to give up at their chance for survival. Having never met her father, Vindicta's view of Hannibus was exaggerated, believing him to be a mighty warrior who brought terror to his enemies, and showed disbelief at the Hannibus before her who claimed to be her father, seeing him as tiny and frail. Hannibus managed to convince her otherwise, and she was delighted to hear the enemy was Kranon, who posed a threat to Zaros's plans. She temporarily left her forces with Gorvek at Daemonheim, where the World Guardian noted that she was slightly happier than usual despite her protests. The pair worked with Hannibus and Shakorexis to destroy Kranon's cannons, after which she returned to the Heart to lead her forces.
Visit to Iaia[edit | edit source]
Sometime after stopping the Ambassador, Hannibus brought Vindicta to Iaia. Vindicta was not impressed with her homeworld, as she compared it to an armoured tomb, their inhabitants resigned to death. As the Olun'dai stated that everyone was connected and played a part, she compared it to threads on a needle, and that her role in the Olun'dai was to lead the Ilujanka to a new homeworld. Some of the younger Ilujanka appeared to show interest in Gielinor, where they would be able to ride dragons once more. Hannibus thought her idea was good and that she would appreciate Ilujankan culture, but she stated that she would only do so if the new generation of dragon riders met her expectations.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Vindicta is Latin for vengeance and retribution.
- There was a bug upon release where during the phase transition, Vindicta and Gorvek were "taggable", resulting in the first player to "tag" them obtaining the main drop, even if they did less damage than the other players. This was hotfixed.
- During the phase transition players can sometimes see Vindicta's weakness changing to crush attacks. Sometime on release, it was also possible to poison her during this transition, but this was quickly fixed.
- Vindicta was originally intended to be a Chthonian demon, and was changed to an Ilujanka due to concept art drawn by a member of The Watch.[2]
- After Vindicta mounts Gorvek during the Tales of the God Wars cutscene, her examine text becomes "More violent, more powerful, more dragon."
- As of 1 February 2018, the highest kill count for this boss was 60,000 kills for normal mode and 1,355 for hard mode. At this time, this was the record for the most-killed boss in the Heart of Gielinor, equal with Helwyr.[3]
- This had increased to 100,781 for normal mode and 1,618 for hard mode by 13 December 2018.[4] At this time, she was the most killed boss of the Heart of Gielinor.
- She is the only boss in the Heart of Gielinor that is immune to the effects of poison in both her normal fight and her Challenge Mode fight. Gregorovic only has poison immunity in his Challenge Mode fight.
- Vindicta is the only one of Sliske's opposing generals not to have a personal grudge against Gregorovic.
- Before an update in 2019, Gorvek's dragonfire ignored standard methods of damage reduction, such as Deflect Magic and Devotion.
