MonsterNPC

Glacors (/ˈɡlsɔːr/ GLAY-soar) are fairly dangerous monsters, which were brought to Gielinor from another world, Leng.

Glacors can be found in both the Glacor Cave, the Glacor Front of the Elder God Wars Dungeon and the Wilderness, located in level 44-47 Wilderness. The glacors in the Wilderness are aggressive.

The glacors in the cave can only be fought after completion of the Ritual of the Mahjarrat quest, with the fairy ring dkq providing quick access to the cave. The glacors that are part of the Glacor Front do not require completion of the aforementioned quest, instead requiring level 84 Slayer or higher in order to damage them. Unlocking them as a Slayer assignment from Kuradal, Morvran and Laniakea requires 50 Slayer points to get them as a task.

Glacors are the only creatures to drop the three glacyte boots, worth several million coins each. They are also the only source of shards of Armadyl, 100 of which can be used to craft an Orb of Armadyl, required to make an Armadyl battlestaff. Completion of Ritual of the Mahjarrat is required to receive shards of Armadyl. A Most Wanted card may be used to increase the chances of receiving unique drops from glacors.

Strategies[edit | edit source]

History and nature[edit | edit source]

The world where glacors originate from is unknown. They are capable of interplanetary travel and travel through space as icy comets; additionally, they are capable of surviving orbital re-entry. An army of glacors once invaded the planet Leng this way, which they then froze beneath a layer of ice miles thick. The glacors remained on Leng and have inhabited it ever since.[1][2] In addition to regular glacors, Arch-Glacors and Ur-Glacors, which are larger and more powerful versions, also exist.[3][4]

The Mahjarrat Lucien summoned several hundred glacors to reinforce him during the 18th Ritual of Rejuvenation, although only one made it to the battle as the remaining several hundred were defeated by Kuradal.[5] Several glacors remain in the cave below the ritual site.

In the Sixth Age, the Elder God, Wen, in search of an army to reclaim her egg, discovered the glacors still on Leng, which for unknown reasons had become affected by shadow anima. She teleported an Arch-Glacor and a large number of standard glacors to Senntisten to breach the cathedral where her egg was held hostage. They were either destroyed or eventually returned to Leng.[6]

Wilderness drop table[edit | edit source]

This monster has access to the Wilderness shared loot table, which is a tertiary drop. To access the table, it has to be killed inside the Wilderness.
Luck-enhancing items are not required to access the table, but do increase the chance of doing so, as does doing higher-level content.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Glacors name likely comes from the french word "glace" which means ice.
  • In the 2011 Halloween event, the player had to choose a glacor to represent Frank in statue form. Beauty described them as "a rare form of ice elemental".
  • The glacor fought during the quest can be killed and it will give usual drops.
  • There was a glitch that enabled you to be in combat with 2 glacors at once using Chain. Normally, the ability would ignore other glacors; however, it was able to hit multiple glacors if it was used to initiate combat. This has been fixed on 13 April 2015.
  • Prior to Legacy Mode, glacors had 30,000 life points.
  • The Promised Gift revealed the existence of Arch-Glacors, 100 times larger than regular ones on the plane of Leng.[4]
  • As of 1 February 2018, the highest kill count for this monster was 61,648 kills.[7]
    • This had not increased by 6 May 2018.[8]

When the icy comets appeared in the sky, the people of Leng had no idea what awaited them. The crashing comets wrought devastation as they landed, but something worse rose out of the craters. The incorporeal invaders formed towering suits of armour from the ice they brought with them. That same ice spread across the whole world, covering the cities and freezing their people. Their work done, the glacors stood vigil over a silent, dead world for countless aeons."
