Garenius was a playwright who lived in the Zarosian Empire during the Second Age. A notable theme of their plays was the real meaning behind being a citizen of the Empire.[1]

In a critic's review, the works of Garenius were used as an example of plays with hidden meanings that prey on the citizens' own preconceptions, as opposed to the play that was being reviewed, the Whispering King by Sliske.[1]

I am used to plays that offer hidden meanings, or play on the emotional states of the viewer. The works of Garenius, which asks the viewer what it really means to be a citizen of the Empire. [...] These plays prey on our own preconceptions and turn our own thoughts into a marvellous piece of the performance. But this play does none of that."
