The official RuneScape Client or a web browser which supports NPAPI plugins.

Plugins[edit | edit source]

If playing inside a web browser:

Note: It is generally advisable to use the current Sun Java release. Only the Java Runtime (JRE) component is required, though installing midsize or deluxe soundbanks may improve the sound quality.

It is possible to tweak the Java settings in some installations. Significant tweaks include:

  • Java2d.ddscale: Can be selected to enable hardware scaling under the directdraw pipeline; Default is off, as some driver implementations may not scale with acceptable quality.

Update history[edit | edit source]

This information has been compiled as part of the update history project. Some updates may not be included - see here for how to help out!
  • update 21 January 2001 (Update):
    • Reduced the network requirements so the game works over more connections.
