Galarpos Mountains

The Galarpos Mountains are part of a mountain range in Western Kandarin which separates Tirannwn from the rest of Gielinor. For a long time, the mountains were largely thought to be impassable. However, a gnome explorer named Bolrie found a shortcut through these mountains from Ourania and stumbled upon the elven village of Lletya.

Many years later, an adventurer along with the gnome Golrana rediscovered the shortcut and used a rope to get down from a cliff into the village. After the player completes The Prisoner of Glouphrie, they may still use the shortcut. Using the shortcut from Tirannwn to Kandarin is required for the Gnome Roaming achievement. These mountains are much safer compared to Arandar and especially the Underground Pass as no NPCs, let alone enemies, are around to attack the players.

Not long after, it was discovered that the hidden city Arposandra was within these mountains. Not much is known about the city except that it is directly below the mountains.

Passing through the mountains[edit | edit source]

A map of the caverns.
If passing through the mountains for the first time as part of the The Prisoner of Glouphrie, see the quest guide for more detailed instructions.

From Ourania[edit | edit source]

The entrance to the caverns.

Head south-west from the Ourania Runecrafting Altar (ZMI Altar) towards the clearing with hill giants. Squeeze past the plant near the ledge and then head north-west along the path of dead trees into the mountains. Find a large decaying dead tree and search it to reveal the entrance to the caverns. Cross the chasm using the rope and then head south. Next, jump between the plateaus by clicking the gap between them. Once across, head north towards the stepping stones. Make your way across using the stones, remembering that you can only jump a maximum of 2 spaces away from your current location. Once past the stones, follow the caverns north and around to the south all the way to the south-west corner where you can exit the caverns. From the exit, head south-west to the sturdy tree and descend the cliff using the rope attached to it to enter Lletya and Tirannwn.

From Lletya[edit | edit source]

Head to the eastern side of the building in Lletya that contains Gwir and the bank. Use the rope to climb up the cliff. Once at the top, head north-east to the large dead tree and climb into it to enter the caverns. Follow the cave north and around the bend to the stepping stones and make your way across. Head south-east to the plateaus and jump between them clicking the gap between them. Head north towards the chasm and make your way across using the rope and exit the caverns. Once outside, head south-east towards the hill giants north of the observatory and squeeze past the plant near the ledge to enter mainland Kandarin.

Points of interest[edit | edit source]

The mountains are supposed to be a shortcut, but it isn't really any quicker to get to Lletya this way, as you have to navigate the caves again. With the introduction of the lodestone network, it is often easier to use the Tirannwn home teleport instead of the caves. Not much else can be found along the way except for a large amount of dead trees as well as an entrance to Arposandra.

Update history[edit | edit source]

This information has been compiled as part of the update history project. Some updates may not be included - see here for how to help out!
  • patch 3 August 2015 (Update):
    • Blocking has been added to a section of cliff face between Galarpos mountains and Lletya.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • "Galarpos" is a word in Ancient Gnomish which loosely translates to "All Rock" or "All Stone".
  • Galar pos is Welsh (as is the majority of Elven related things) for mourning puzzle, which refers to the Underground Pass.
