Furnace (perk)

Furnace is an Invention perk that has a chance to consume a gathered resource for double the normal experience; when mining, it generates no progress in exchange for the doubled experience. It can be created in tool gizmos.

When activated while fishing, the message Your furnace perk consumes a fish and gives you extra XP. appears.

When activated while woodcutting, the message Your furnace perk consumes some wood and gives you extra XP. appears.

When activated while mining, the message Your furnace perk gives you extra XP, but causes no damage. appears.

When activated while excavating, the message Your furnace perk consumes a material and gives you extra XP.

When activated while gathering crystal fragments, fishing crystal urchins or magnetic minnows, or chopping bamboo, the message Your furnace perk consumes some of what you gather and gives you extra XP. appears.

The Furnace perk doesn't work on skilling plots that don't produce any resources to consume, e.g. crystal trees and ivy. However, the perk does work with the shark outfit, even when it is set to consume caught fish. This perk will also work with the Always Adze relic but will not reward Firemaking experience. Furnace will not stack with the effects of Crystallise, and will take precedence over the spell.

Mutated roots, red sandstone, and crystal-flecked sandstone are not affected by the furnace perk.

The extra experience received from furnace will stack with bonus experience. The perk effectively grants 5% extra experience per rank. Items consumed by the perk also grant double equipment experience.

Items consumed by the perk do not count towards a daily challenge.
