Smithing[edit | edit source]
Crafting[edit | edit source]
Casting[edit | edit source]
Using silver bars, the player can also cast special items such as holy symbols, unholy symbols, tiaras, and lightning rods, again depending on their Crafting level and whether or not they use an appropriate item mould.
Glassblowing[edit | edit source]
Players with Level 43 Magic may choose to use Superheat Item instead of furnaces for smelting, earning both Magic and Smithing experience, although this will prove costly as it requires 1 nature rune and 4 fire runes per bar. Superheat Item does not work for jewellery or melting glass.
Locations[edit | edit source]
With the Mining and Smithing rework, a furnace's proximity to a bank has become generally less important, as the player may store their ores and bars within the Metal Bank, accessible through any furnace, forge, or anvil. This being said, it's helpful to use a furnace located near a bank, as you will likely need to bank your products every so often.
Most popular[edit | edit source]
- The Artisans' Workshop in Falador is the hub of Smithing, and is generally regarded as the best place to use a furnace and train the Smithing skill. A bank chest is at the east end of the building, and is the only location to feature all five Smithing devices: furnaces, anvils, forges, burial anvils, and burial forges.
- There are several other popular furnaces located within close proximity of a bank:
- The furnace in Lumbridge (which also has an anvil), east of the Lumbridge Market which contains a bank chest.
- The furnace in Edgeville, which requires the completion of the Varrock Easy Achievements.
- The furnace in Shilo Village, which requires the completion of the Shilo Village quest. This furnace is the closest one in the game to a bank.
- The furnace in Port Phasmatys, which requires the completion of the Priest in Peril quest.
- The furnace in Neitiznot, which requires the completion of The Fremennik Isles quest.
All locations[edit | edit source]
|Location||Squares to bank||Requirements||Members||Notes|
|Shilo Village||10||Shilo Village quest||The closest furnace to a bank in RuneScape, although the bankers have a smaller click area since there are no booths. As of an update on 8 May 2017, the furnace no longer requires a 20 coins entrance fee to use.|
|Edgeville||13||Easy Varrock Tasks||Contrary to what some people think, the removal of the door does not mean that it can now be used without completing the tasks.|
|Neitiznot||15||The Fremennik Isles started||The third-closest furnace to a bank in all RuneScape. Named clay forge. One-click bank chest. Next to an oven, which can be used to cook soda ash for glass-making. This furnace is superior due to the player being able to see the furnace and the bank chest without the need to move the camera, even in fixed mode.|
|Artisans' Workshop||16||None||This furnace is located at the Artisans' Workshop in Falador with a bank chest in the next room.|
|Port Phasmatys||17||None||Used to be the closest furnace to a bank in RuneScape. Entering the city requires 2 ecto-tokens before completing the Ghosts Ahoy quest. Wearing a Ghostspeak amulet (or completing the hard Morytania achievements) speeds up banking but is not required.|
|Lumbridge||17||None||This furnace is located north of Lumbridge Castle. The closest bank chest is at the Lumbridge Market (20 squares). It also has a smithing anvil by it.|
|Worker district||20||The Jack of Spades quest||The furnace can be used upon completion of the quest, however players require tier 6 Worker district reputation in order to access the nearby bank.|
|Piscatoris Fishing Colony||22||Swan Song quest||Quite close to a bank. A very nice furnace because there's nobody usually smelting here, and you can take short breaks to fish.|
|Prifddinas||23||Plague's End quest||This furnace is located in the Trahaearn Clan area. The bank chest is near the Trahaearn herald. This furnace is the closest to an Anvil.|
|None||The furnace is just south of the bank (a one-click bank chest) and adjacent to anvils.|
|Al Kharid||30||None||This furnace is located just a little north of the bank.|
|Burgh de Rott||31||In Aid of the Myreque quest started||The bank is not accessible until partway through the quest. This furnace is not a good place to smelt as there are no significant mining areas nearby (except maybe for the Abandoned Mine). It is useful for smithing quest-related items and ores received from Temple Trekking.|
|Crafting Guild||33||40 Crafting||Very close to a bank deposit box (requires Falador hard tasks). The closest bank chest is located just east of the guild, in the Clan Camp.|
|TzHaar City||39 (Main Plaza)
74 (Fight Pits)
90 (Fight Kiln)
|None||Is actually a lava forge but has the same options as furnace. Bank is near, close by the gold mine.|
|Falador||39 (West bank)
54 (East bank)
|None||This furnace is located south of the centre of Falador. This is also a recommended furnace, though Al Kharid's furnace is slightly closer to a bank. It is also near an entrance to the Dwarven Mines.|
|East Ardougne||41 (North bank)
64 (East bank)
|None||This furnace is close to two banks.|
|Zanaris||47||Lost City quest|
|Keldagrim||48||The Giant Dwarf started||The furnace is actually the Blast Furnace minigame. Players with a smithing level lower than 60 must pay a fee of 2500 coins (1250 coins with a Ring of charos) to use it for 10 minutes. The upside is it does not require secondaries to make metal bars, and there is a nearby NPC selling ores.|
|Ports district||73||The Jack of Spades quest||The furnace can be used upon completion of the quest, however players require tier 6 Port district reputation in order to access the nearest bank.|
|Dorgesh-Kaan||106||Death to the Dorgeshuun quest||It can be found in Bartak's house in the southern part of the city. It is a unique open furnace, and can be used only for crafting glass and jewellery. An anvil can be found nearby, but both are somewhat far from the city's bank.|
|Enakhra's Temple||128 (On Tuska's back)||Enakhra's Lament quest||Very far from a bank.|
|Entrana||150 roughly to Draynor bank, varies due to monk movement||This furnace is mainly used in Crafting to make glass as all the materials are on the island. The closest bank, Draynor is far away. However, there is a deposit box at Port Sarim docks near the ship to Entrana. Alternatively, players who meet the requirements can use the bank in their Player Owned Port.|
|Meiyerditch||74 (only after Lord of Vampyrium)||Legacy of Seergaze quest (partway through)||Extremely far from both a bank or a mine, its use is mainly to create items for the quest. Or alternatively after The Lord of vampyrium, go inside of daeyalt mine, push east dayalt cart to Darkmeyer (gatehouse) and run east to bank. you can reverse the route by after entering to Refinery by castle doors, run south and then east until you get blocked by cart, and push it to daeyalt mine where you speak to miner to leave from mines to run back to furnace.|
From lodestone to anvil: 41
|None||This furnace is located inside Brian's Battleaxe Bazaar.|
|Rellekka||95 Lunar isle (varies due captain movement but shortest 95)||The Fremennik Trials quest||A bank is a long walk away, but this furnace is the closest to an anvil in all of RuneScape for those who have not completed Plague's End.|
|Tyras Camp||104 to Catherby varies by 102-111 due charters moving around||Regicide quest started||A really long walk away from a bank, unless the player uses charter ships to sail to a city with a nearby bank. However, players must pay 3200 coins per one-way trip (1600 after Cabin Fever or with Ring of Charos, or 800 with both).|
|Darkmeyer||107||To be filled||To be filled|
|Daemonheim||N/A||None||Very close to an anvil, and the Smuggler. However, this furnace is only available while training dungeoneering.|
|Wilderness (Level 28)||Varies (due to the banker moving)||None||Located in the Wilderness at level 28, it is only useful for the mines in the Wilderness, however players can also be killed by player killers while using this furnace.|
