The fungal mage is a monster found in the Polypore Dungeon. If players come within one square away from it, it will infect them, dealing fast hits of 15-17 life points. However, this can be prevented by using neem oil on it.
Fungal mages have the highest drop rate for fungal flakes, and are known for dropping large amounts of potato cacti quite frequently.

- patch 22 November 2012 (Update):
- Fungal Mage now work correctly as Slayer Creatures, including giving the buffs from the Slayer Helm when on task.
- When the fungal mage is assigned as a Slayer task, when you block it you can also choose the option to block all monsters in the Polypore dungeon.
- As of 1 February 2018, the highest kill count for these monsters was 259,437 kills, shared with all polypore creatures.[1]
- This had increased to 351,360 by 6 May 2018.[2]
- Before Solak's model was developed, a fungal mage was used as a placeholder model for testing Solak's mechanics.
- Fungal magi are the only Polypore creature that drops ashes as remains - all other creatures, barring the infested axe, drop bones as remains.
