Free-to-play Magic training
The Magic skill enables some helpful and freely-available perks such as the Surge ability, Teleportation, and High level alchemy. This skill also enables non-melee combat within Daemonheim, which is very helpful in training Dungeoneering.

It is recommended that you finish these quests before training Magic, as it results in some quick Magic experience at low levels if the necessary items are bought.
- The Blood Pact gives 100 Magic experience and Caitlin's staff. It also gives 100 experience in Attack, Strength, Defence, and Ranged, which may make this quest undesirable for Magic pures.
- Witch's Potion (miniquest), a miniquest that rewards 325 Magic experience.
- Imp Catcher gives 875 Magic experience.
- Rune Mysteries, an easy quest that awards the tower mindspike, 250 Magic experience, and 70 mind runes.
- Beneath Cursed Tides, a fairly lengthy quest that gives you a 10,000 experience combat lamp (requires level 30 magic)
Upon finishing Death Plateau, players can complete the Supply and Demand achievement, in which they perform supply runs for Commander Denulth (requires a minimum Combat level of 18 to fully complete). Every trip (a total of 5) provides the player with 3 experience lamps rewarding 180 experience each, totaling 2700 when finished.
No cost methods[edit | edit source]
Dungeoneering[edit | edit source]
Training magic while dungeoneering can be done with combat spells. Wands and orbs provide unlimited runes, and one should use the best wand and orb available to maximize accuracy. The players selection of enemies to train on is limited by the random generation of the dungeon. This limits the hourly rates of experience.

Training Without Runes[edit | edit source]
Some combat spells require only runes that may be freely supplied by equipment. Air spells are entirely supplied by, in order increasing effectiveness, a staff of air, Caitlin's staff or mindspike, and the Avernic wand. The accuracy of the Avernic wand can be augmented by wielding an orb. Wielding both the Avernic wand and Tome of Frost provides unlimited use of water spells. However it is highly discouraged for players to train with weapons of low level only to save runes. Low level weapons highly limits your damage ability. Players are recommended to use the best weapon their magic level can support. With abilities, runes are consumed at a much lower rate only when basic abilities are cast.

Armour[edit | edit source]
Using magic-type armour preserves accuracy. Using range or melee type armour causes magic attacks to suffer from less accuracy. Because magic-type armour is weaker against ranged attacks, it is generally better to avoid opponents who use ranged attacks while training Magic. Conversely, both magic-type armour and magic attacks are stronger against opponents who use melee attacks, making them ideal targets.

Because deadly red spiders and hellhounds have high defence, it is important to use the highest-accuracy gear when fighting them. hellhounds are more susceptible to magic attacks than deadly red spiders. Free-to-play lacks efficient, high-level magic training method. Some players opt to perform high level alchemy to train at higher levels.
Magic Pure Training Guide[edit | edit source]
Some players wish to train magic without levelling up Constitution. When casting curse spells it is important that the target does not die until at least its health has reset. Even if another player kills the target, the player that hit it first will get constitution XP. As curse occasionally do damage, one must also be careful to not kill any non-player target. One may disable XP from player kills in the settings.
The Imp Catcher quest and the Witch's Potion miniquest, as well as the Stronghold of Player Safety rewards, may be used for magic XP to reach a magic level of 14 without gaining any constitution XP.
