I have a question about wikification all? When is acceptable to make words in articles into links? Should one do this for every word possible? Or just once the first time a certain word appears under a heading or just once for the entire article? Is there a policy for this, and if not, should we create one. As I consider myself a wiki gnome, I just thought I needed some clarification on this subject. Ice Barrage icon.png Nick le Roi Ice Barrage icon.png 23:37, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion

Comment - We had a very similar discussion about this here.  Tien  23:41, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Use common sense. That is the policy we use in regard to this. HaloTalk 23:50, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

We never really got much resolution on the issue, but I agree, just use common sense. Eyeball it. Every word being blue won't work, in the words of the great TLUL:

RuneScape is a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in January 2001 by Andrew and Paul Gower. It is a graphical browser game implemented on the client-side in Java, and incorporates 3D rendering. The game has approximately 10 million active accounts, and over 130 million registered accounts, and is recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world's most popular free MMORPG.

Our closest thing to an official policy on this is Style guide#Wiki-linking. ʞooɔ 00:34, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

I lost the game! 222 talk 00:52, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Why would you put that in the middle of an on-topic discussion? ajr 01:31, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
I lost the game also. =( By the way, how long did it take you to make all those links? --LiquidTalk 02:22, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Just a bit of fun =D Who killed your sense of humour? 222 talk 02:45, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
There are right and wrong places for humor. This is a legitimate discussion, so all we ask of you is to treat it as such. You can tell people that you lost the game on their talk pages. Andrew talk 03:13, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
*sighs* Has everyone lost their sense of humour today? I wouldn't bother with the talk page. Whatever back on-topic, common sense rules in this matter, it's really up to your own personal opinion. There's no stringent guideline, e.g. as long as it doesn't link to the same page a lot of times in one sentence. 222 talk 04:35, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Liquid: It didn't take long. For the record, the italicised "the game" was my doing, not Cook's. In case you hadn't noticed, that's why 222 lost the game, which makes this partially on-topic. Just clearing that up. I'm a regular user and I approve this message.  TLUL Talk - Contribs 04:40, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. I should have realised other people might not have seen the game and thought I was saying something random and off-topic. 222 talk 00:29, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
