Keeping this very short.

Back in late January/early February, more CC ranks were approved. However, none of the supported ones (like mine and Dave Lopo's, for example) were ever enacted...and here it is, mid-March. Why is this? I have seen C Teng online multiple times, but he does nothing. Also, every time I mention it IN the CC, I am flat-out ignored.

Answer, plox? 7kyt1iT.gif --WINE OF GOOD HEALTH (Actually Stinko) 23:33, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Chicken persuaded C Teng to not rank the new users until the ranks were cleared out, since the R S Wikia friends list was full. C Teng is in the process of deleting inactive admins. There is a list of users that he will delete, I just can't remember where it is. But, there's your answer. --LiquidTalk 23:43, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Comment We also have a huge problem now and one that will grow even more in having no ranked users at certain times of the day. The entire thing was brought about to try to get all times covered. While some people kept that in mind, many did not, so if we rank all the "passed" we will be at near full capacity still leaving many times uncovered. Thereby accomplishing nothing at all.--Degenret01 03:56, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Those users did pass their Rank request fair and square. But the users who support really only did it based on those users' honesty and trust, not on the problems we are facing. Can anyone give me a number on how many spaces R S Wikia's friend list has now? If we have quite a few, I say we let these ranks get their ranks. But we must understand it is only a temporary solution to the full list problem, and doesn't do much at all to solve the empty time zones one. With the introduction of the lobby, some ranks will be more happy to sit in the lobby and just monitor the chat while doing other things. I say, if there is enough room, we rank those users, and just consider the empty-timezone problem more. Chicken7 >talk 05:37, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Comment By the way Stink, I don't mean this next bit as an attack or a flame but a legitimate question. Haven't you said your going to be in our CC less and in Rune HQs more because of how some of our people are? So wouldn't ranking you kind of waste a rank? If I am incorrect I apologize, I really thought I read that somewhere from you though.--Degenret01 09:15, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

No, I said I was going to be on the wiki less and on RHQ more; never said much about the CC's. I'm still trying to get used to theirs, they're kinda...different. But don't worry, no offence taken. And really, I haven't gone there lately, it's a HUGE forum...7kyt1iT.gif --WINE OF GOOD HEALTH (Actually Stinko) 16:31, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Question - So we're waiting for C Teng to delete the names then when he's done, we go through the RfR process again to pick users who are on at then needed times?   Swizz Talk   Events!   16:13, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Well, maybe, if C Teng really is going to be deleting some of the unneeded ranks that are filling up the room, rank all those who were passed and maybe even some more. Many people with quite a few supports and much experience in the chat were not allowed through. Since there will be quite a bit of rank space, why not let some of those people have chances too?--Cheers, Off-hand ascension crossbow.pngYodaAscension crossbow.png 23:55, March 18, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I absolutely agree with Yoda. I'm of the opinion that the lower ranks we have (i.e. Corporal and Seargeant) are some of the most important in the CC, since they're the ones that generally monitor the CC the most. The other ranks denote a status within the wiki itself. Many administrators here on the Wiki who take up space on the Rank list never visit the RS CC (or never log onto RS altogether), though they still take up space on the Ranks list. Since many users who are frequently in the CC, such as Jim, do not have a very high edit count here, this is the only way to give them a chance to help moderate the CC. --LiquidTalk 00:12, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Reply - You guys need to understand that we didn't rank those people because we do have a limit, and that limit had been reached. Now that we have more space, I would support ranking those users, but it still must be remembered that we will reach that limit again, and that the problem of time zones without ranks has not been solved. Chicken7 >talk 06:50, March 19, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I saw Swiz and Jim multiple times in the cc when there were no ranks at all. bad_fetustalk 14:02, March 20, 2010 (UTC)
I've seen the cc with no ranks quite a few times, in fact.--Cheers, Off-hand ascension crossbow.pngYodaAscension crossbow.png 00:14, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Comment: For my part, if I'm (still) ranked, feel free to remove me to free up some space. Even when I played RS I would rarely if ever use CC. If I'm ever active again I'll maybe request ranking then. Endasil (Talk) @  07:02, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

We need to finally reach consensus on this issue, so I propose the following...

  1. You may only have one ranked account per person, all secondary accounts of ranked users are to be deranked.
  2. If you have been inactive in the clan chat for a period of six months or more (if proven by being unseen by other users or admitting to being inactive), you are to be deranked, though you may request your rank back should you become active again without discussion.
  3. If you have expressed lack of interest in continuing to use the clan chat, you are to be deranked.

Support - Hopefully this will speed things up.   Swizz Talk   Events!   13:53, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Nice proposal, Steler. HaloTalk 13:58, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Good. I haven't seen many of the currently-ranked users in some time. 15:44, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Question - What about those users whose rank request got accepted, but have gone inactive in the time between then and now? For example, I haven't seen Purestrato (now Mookie Strat, I think) for a while. --LiquidTalk 15:45, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Hmm... If they have not been active in the clan chat for six months seance their nomination, I don't see any reason to rank them at all. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 15:54, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
It hasn't been six months since he was last on quite yet. Also what in the nominees don't meet the expectations of being ranked, such as account creation date?   Swizz Talk   Events!   16:19, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
Account creation date is not irrelevant. I was ranked in the clan chat before I started becoming active on the wiki itself. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 17:52, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
We discussed that here   Swizz Talk   Events!   18:37, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
And it's news to me OMG!. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 18:48, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Question - How do you plan on proving that someone is inactive? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 19:29, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

We have ranked people in the clan chat at almost all times. If none of them recall seeing a person in the clan chat, they can be considered inactive. I don't consider someone who isn't in the clan chat when they are on (unless they generally are, but they are currently doing something else-penguins/godwars/etc), or someone who only gets on for 5 minutes and doesn't really do anything active. It's generally pretty obvious when someone isn't active. HaloTalk 19:34, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
What if someone's in a time zone where it appears to many people that they never come online, when really they do? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 20:10, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
As I said, we have ranked people on most of the time. If they aren't in the clan chat at least sometime that another ranked person is on, and can vouch saying, I saw them at this time, then chances are they probably aren't on enough to need the rank. HaloTalk 20:19, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
There would be a discussion for every user on the list about whether they are active enough, I suppose? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 22:01, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
No, the discussion would only be brought up if someone was assumed to be inactive. HaloTalk 22:03, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
But there would be a page where this could be discussed? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 22:17, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
I think that would be a good idea, unless someone has a better one. HaloTalk 22:19, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
The user who has been accused of being inactive should be mature enough to say so if called upon on his talk. I don't know how one would find determining if one is inactive difficult in the least bit. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 12:17, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, true. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 13:08, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Support - It is quite silly that pure and skiller accounts are being ranked as "secondary accounts", and it's eating up valuable space. That space can be better used covering all time zones. ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  21:38, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Sounds quite fair.--Cheers, Off-hand ascension crossbow.pngYodaAscension crossbow.png 01:02, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

Whatever - This, in my honest opinion, is still a temporary solution. Although it'd free up space, that space will get filled up again. Soon, we may have 100 active ranks. I don't think we should be so lenient on accepting new ranks. It isn't a matter of "the more, the merrier". And this (semi-) proposal doesn't really mention the new ranks, which was the point of this thread. Chicken7 >talk 04:16, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Why are all admins automatically ranked? Many admins rarely enter the clan chat; some don't even play anymore. Why waste valuable rank space? ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  07:24, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

Reply - They were ranked because in the past, the only ranks were admins. Most inactive admins have now been removed. In the future, I believe we should still rank admins. Although, inevitably, this will lead to the cc friend's list getting full again. Chicken7 >talk 11:21, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
I think admins should really be the only ones ranked. ('Crats, sysops, and forum admins that is). It would make this whole process a whole lot easier without people begging for rank every now and then. HaloTalk 11:31, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I kind of agree with Haloolah. No offence meant to the sergeants (Rank Requested), but rarely have I seen a sergeant/s in the cc on their own, without a higher rank. And, from looking at the timezone of the new ranks, that's unlikely to change. Chicken7 >talk 11:43, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
Just my two cents on this matter. Back when I was a Sargent, there where many situations when I was the only rank, and this will easily continue even now. We should not question the usefulness of Sargent's. And Telos, as part of this proposal, admins who are inactive will not be ranked. I sort of assume that people who just passed an rfa are mature enough to tell Teng not to rank them if they already know they wont be using it. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 12:05, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I fully do agree with that, from personal experience there's usually times with no ranks roughly 2-3 times per week on weekdays. Korasi's sword.png Archmage Elune  TalkHS Void knight deflector.png fetus is my son and I love him. 05:16, March 30, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - To be honest anyone that feels they Need rank because they do this and that are wrong Rank should be earned not given, I personally do not enter the Rs wikia chat as i am often not on much and choose to enter the penguin CC chats to help others find their penguins. Personally people who feel they need or Deserve rank should get a pin and pop there head. Rank will be given when and where its deserved. (i know this comment is not on topic but i felt i should express my opinion. KeeganG213 Talk House Woodcutting 07:46, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

Support and comment - Note that C Teng has just ranked those who passed RfR's. That means that rank space is even more limited now than it was. So, we should try to get this proposal passed as soon as possible to clear away some of the space. --LiquidTalk 20:54, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

Done. Sorry for the delay. Thanks to Stelercus for figuring out the list of names to be deleted. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 00:22, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Closed 1 ranked account per person in the CC, leaving for 6 months means loss of rank until/unless you come back and request it, same for those uninterested and asking to be deranked.--Degenret01 04:32, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
